Title: Angel of the Night Post by: Mofo Rising on August 16, 2001, 07:12:21 PM Anybody seen this one? I found it at the Blockbuster as Fangoria Presents. The lousy title and art on the cover make it seem like a bad softcore vampire porno, but it was actually one of the biggest surprises I've had renting a movie.
ANGEL OF THE NIGHT starts off with the extremely cliched premise of a young woman inheriting a castle in Europe. Turns out was left it by her family, which includes a vampire named Rico Mortiz. She, her boyfriend and her other friend retell the story by reading it from a book. The film is really three interrelated stories with an overaching plot. The first is the origin of the vampire, told in pseudo Anne Rice stylings. The second is a underworld crime story, told in Tarantino/Rodriguez fashion. The third is a Rosemary's Baby thing. Then they wrap it up with the people in the castle. It's all told very well. The story is surprisingly deep, and there are a lot of elements to get through. All in all it's a bunch of fun to watch. It's what the FROM DUSK TIL DAWN sequels should have been. This post does it no justice. It was directed by the wonderfully named Shaky Gonzalez, whom I hope we'll be hearing more from. Go rent it! Rico Mortiz - Rigor mortise lol Title: Re: Angel of the Night Post by: Chris on August 20, 2001, 07:56:09 PM I borught a FANGORIA magazine about in 1998 it told all about it I couldn't wait to see it on video but forgot to rent it then this year it came on Showtine Beyond and stunk like hell. It didn't say what happed to the guy's girlfriend in the second part . She became a vampire and turn the guy into one then disapear not comming back in the third part .And why is the that beautiful redheaded woman who owns the castle best friend become a vampire after the Count Rico dies. If anyone sees this movie I'd hope you understand it I don't.
