Title: MST3K DVDs (Dammit!)
Post by: Vermin Boy on August 23, 2001, 09:02:37 PM
Just read at mst3kinfo.com that the upcoming DVDs of Manos: The Hands of Fate and Mitchell WON'T include the uncut versions of the movies. To compensate, the Manos disc will include the complete blooper reel, while the Mitchell disc will include the trailer for MST3K: The Movie. Next up are I Accuse My Parents and Red Zone Cuba.

All I can say is, DAMMIT! Here I've been drooling over the prospect of an un-MSTed, digital version of Manos, and now this. Were the rights to a nearly-forgotten movie made by a fertilizer salesman in the 60s THAT hard to obtain? We can only hope that Rhino gets their act together before the Red Zone Cuba DVD (Which is even worse and harder to come by).

Did you ever wonder if getting MSTyed was such a raise in attention to these and other forgotten flicks, that the owners thought they could get more money from the Rhino/Best Brains gang, that they priced them selves out of the market? I'd love to have DVD's of MIGHTY JACK,BLACK SCORPION, GODZILLA VS MAGALON,and some others, yet i wonder if the owners are now asking too much money. Its a thought. Hummmm...BTW, thought the MST gand has gone their seperate ways now, would it be possable for them to get together for movies they diden't have a chance to do? A direct to market video series through Rhino,so to speak. If they did GREEN SLIME,I'd be there for it!

Actually, I think it has happened in the past-- That's why "Mr. B. Natural" has never appeared on Rhino's "Shorts" compilations. I still don't see why they don't release all the episodes featuring public domain movies (which, IIRC, would include Godzilla vs. Megalon).

It would be cool if the gang did some new direct-to-video stuff, though they'd have to either rebuild or work around the SOL set. As of right now, I'm interested to see their solo works-- Pity TimmyBigHands didn't last longer (I still have my check for $1.18!). Oh, yeah, and I think they did do part of The Green Slime as their pilot episode, but there are no known copies. :(
