Title: A-Movies Looking At B-Movies
Post by: Daniel Johnson on February 09, 2004, 01:38:27 PM
I recently saw "Boogie Nights" for the first time and after viewing the film and researching it a little I was surprised to see how many individuals from the porn-industry made cameo appearances. While not necessarily b-movies porn has always been an alternative form of entertainment except for the brief period in the early to mid-seventies when it did reach some main-stream success. Anyways my question is why do movies like "Boogie Nights" and "Ed Wood" bring so many viewers to the theatre yet those same viewers often never watch an alternative or b-movie?

Maybe looking at B-Movies through the lens of an A-movie is as close to the crap as they care to get...  Kind of like how some 20-30 something men buy Maxim because they want to look at pretty girls but are too uptight just to buy Hustler.

Personally, I buy Maxim occasionally (as well as FHM and Stuff) because they get attractive celebrities to pose in skimpy outfits, plus they have a lot of juvenile humor which I like. If I want anonymous girls in x-rated scenes, I can download all I want from the net for free.
