Title: Demoniacs (1974)
Post by: Scott on March 17, 2004, 08:48:01 PM
DEMONIACS (1974) - Just saw my first Jean Rollin film. This French film is a bizarre/weird film. It starts out with a band of "wreckers" who lure ships near the rocky coast so they can loot the wrecked vessel. Two young woman survive this shipwreck and are raped, beaten, and left for dead on the shore.

I was really enjoying this film with its bizarre images till they go to the tavern which looked like a cheap set. The film also had alot of piano and violin music. Then the devil locked in the cathedral ruins protected by a clown. The two woman survived the beating on the beach to find their way to the ruins and unlock the devil who gives them "his power" to get revenge.

I won't tell you the end of this film. The images do save this film. Watching the film I was alittle dissapointed, but after thinking about the film and its meaning I realized what the director was doing to this rather artsy French film. Having said that I am looking forward to more Jean Rollin films.

I loved "Caged Virgins".  I really like most of what I've seen of the guys work.  but why always with the two girls?
