I just ordered Urotsukidoji Boxset.
Can help feeling dirty I guess.

   What Urotsukidoji box set did you get? Please tell me it isn't the Hell on Earth Box Set because I was thinking of picking that up, but after doing research on it I found out that the set cuts out over an hour of film, including stuff pivotal to the plotline as well as all that excessive lusting. Best to buy the movies individually methinks.

Not into Hentai myself, but I do have to say that Urotsukidoji is an amazing film.  Although it does contain some pretty graphic sexual scenes, it's still a great disturbing film overall.

I thought Urotsukidoji was complete crap, after watching it I thought the people who made this were sad losers. I havent seen them all, I saw 2 and 3 I think, I think they were called legend of the overfiend and the demon womb. Overfiend was the one with the chojin that had multiple penis's that snaked around smashing down buildings as I recall. Those writers are most likely sad nerds that cant get women and have complex's about there little cocks. Sorry, its just I think hentai is one of the most sad things for guys to jerk off over.

Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend is not Hentai in the classic sense. Hentai is just a very polite way of calling it animated porn. I own LOTO and I, nor any of my friends view it as such. Anyone getting turned on by it rather than horrified and grossed out is very worrying.

Parts 2 and 3 (3 being split into 4 smaller "Episodes") didn't really have that much to do with the first film...especially in the second when everyone casually forgot that the Chojin Still wanted Earth gone!

So films like LOTO, Ultimate Teacher, and the like aren't true hentai, do to there not being lots of violence in them too.

As for real hentai...I think its daft. If folks want to watch it, that's cool as anyone can watch what they want (within reason. There certain things that should never be viewed, let alone enjoyed. I think we all now what genres I mean), but it ain't for me.

I did order Hell on Earth because I heard it was the only way to get the uncut versions of the films. Can someone confirm this? Its to late to cancel my order, does Deepdiscountdvd give refunds on returns?

Well, let's define the word "hentai".  I gather in Japanese it just means "pervert".  But in actualy usage, at least on this side of the pond, it means animated Japanese porn.

In that sense I don't think it is that much worse than your average porn.  Porn is a purely audiovisual experience aimed at exciting the prurient part of a persons brain.  Animated representations of the female (or male) form may serve as well as physical representations (and don't you think a lot of pornstars are as much cartoons as actual cartoons?).  Both are pretty far removed from the actual act itself.  The map is not the territory and whatnot.

However, a lot of hentai is an extension of a male power trip, as is a lot of regular porn.  Unfortunately that leads to a lot of violence mixed in with the sex, usually violence against women, i.e. rape fantasies and the like.  Not something I could personally get behind.  And if your question is are you a perv for liking something like that I would be inclined to answer yes.

But I would like to add that a lot of titles mentioned here are not hentai in the specific sense that it is just porn.  Movies like KITE, which, yes, is incredibly misogynistic, isn't really straight porn.  There's an actual movie in there.  It may not be much of one, but it should be separated from the straight porn, which I would consider hentai.  It's a movie, one that features a lot of sex and also one I don't find to be particularly good, but a movie nonetheless.

So if your question is should you feel dirty for being aroused by a cartoon form, well I would say no less than your average purely visual form, i.e. television and movies.  That's up to your own morals.

Wow this could turn into a big debate if we let it!  Something along the lines of what good taste is and whether it is right to watch wierd porn!

Hmmm, it seems that alot of bad movies have dodgy sex in it, and pointless nudity as well [as Andrew has so faithfully pointed out in his reviews]  Sometimes Anime has alot of that as well.  The way I figure it, if the sex and nudity is central to the storyline then I'd class that as porn\hentai.  

For example I'd say that La Blue Girl, a hentai about a clan of Ninjas who battle demons by bonking their brains out would be classed as porn, yet a film like Wicked City, which does have a fair bit of tentacle rape and demon sex, I would class as something a bit more than just sex/porn [there is an actual good storyline there and has more meaning than just sex.]  Although I do admit that it is possible for it to be high class porn! :P

That being said, the Overfiend stuff would probably not be classed as porn/hentai but is pretty close, it's too damn confusing at parts for me to really grasp what it's intent is.

That being said, alot of japanimation alludes to sex and that sort of thing [even the kiddie's shows] so I guess I'm used to it, but if you like the show because of the show and not because of the sex then what's the matter?  If you are after it because of the sex, then that's porno, and whilst it has a bad stigma about it, what's so damn wrong about that?  Just because it's kinda pornoish doesn't mean anything, why should you feel bad about doing something millions of other people do?  People have some strange tastes [I know I do :-p] but I guess the whole Hentai thing pushes the boundaries [after all if they did that stuff in real life, it would be kinda disturbing!]

I guess I'm just trying to start up an intellectual debate here, something more than just: Boobs and penis=kinda pervy!

Kite isn't really a hentai anyway.  If anything, it's just a geek show/animated snuff film.  It's 'porn' only in the sense that there is very little artistic worth to it.

Also, with Wicked City: Also not hentai.  The rape segments are rather short, and..um..I guess as tasteful as can be when tentacle rape is involved.  Besides, it's actually a darn good flick, very stylish, quick, good supernatural action/thriller hybrid, just with a little bit of disturbing material thrown in to keep you guessing.

Really, the whole tendency in anime to show skin (or panties, or jiggling boobs, what have you.  'Fanservice' is the term for it) is really just a reflection on the differences in societies--it helps for TV series to get the adolescent boy market and there's no stigma attached to it.  Hell, Neon Genesis Evangelion, IMO one of the best TV series (And movie..owwie, my head still hurts from trying to figure it out.  Makes me happy when moviemakers make me think!) -ever- animated, Japanese, or not, isn't innocent of this.  

And I think I've digressed quite enough.

You have to admit ,though I'm not into it. (SERIOUSLY!!!!) People love their porn. Then the geeks like their cartoon porn.

I bought a couple Cool Devices dvds..and i have to say the animation in most Hentai is pretty sorry for Japanese standards. The only good Hentai is the first Uroksukidoji.  Other than that,  Id much rather see the Real Thing!!!

Hehe, I was just watching Neon Genesis and they had a 'coming up next week' section that said that they'd have some fanservice in it and I was wondering what the hell they meant.  Now I know, and am slightly amused.
