Post by: Josh Leman on March 08, 2001, 12:01:13 AM
Hey everybody, I just wanted to say I hope you enjoy my reader review of Tetsuo.  It's a wild and zany movie, and I hope you guys have as much fun reading my review as I did writing it.

Thank you so much for posting my review, Andrew!

Man, that is one f**ked up movie.

When I first saw it, I imagined I would never have to see it again.  I may go back just for the hell of it, but I still consider it one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen.

The music was really good, though.

Yep,one of the weirdest films I have ever seen,it's a constant assault on your senses. If you are of a nervous disposition,or drink lots of stimulating caffeine loaded drinks,DO NOT watch this movie. It's liable to do some damage you will not recover from.
Has anyone seen the sequel? What happened with the gun totin' amalgam of two humans and machinery?Anyone know?

Tetsuo II: Body Hammer isn't a true sequel; it's more of a remake with a much higher budget and more of a story (a la Evil Dead II).  Plus it's longer and in color.

Fans of the original might be disappointed because Body Hammer doesn't have any scenes with the giant rotating phallic drill, but there's a flashback sequence in the last twenty minutes that really deserves to be seen and discussed.  It's one of the most brutal scenes I've ever witnessed in a film, possibly surpassing even I Spit on Your Grave.

Tetsuo II isn't nearly as innovative as its predecessor, but it's every bit as powerful.

Thanks for writing it Josh, there was no way I could tackle this movie when Greaser's Palace was still so fresh in my memory.  Still, you did make me watch it again and the movie is just plain strange.  Maybe my problem  is trying to make sense out of it....
