Title: Aloha!
Post by: The Burgomaster on June 04, 2004, 11:58:34 AM
No, this is not the title of a new movie.  I leave for my much-needed Hawaiian vacation tomorrow morning.  My wife and I will be spending 8 glorious days in Oahu.  I plan to drink dozens and dozens of Mai-Tais.  I wish you could all be there.  In the meantime . . .

What is the worst Hawaiian movie you have ever seen?????

If you go with movies that were shot all or in part in Hawaii, WATERWORLD comes to mind.

Gerry:

And speaking of WATERWORLD, can you imagine the meetings that occurred when that movie was in the development stage?

Costner:  "I have a vision . . . imagine Mad Max . . . surrounded by water!"

Wasn't one of Elvis's movies set in Hawaii.
And if you really wanted all of us there, you'd buy us tickets.

Have a nice trip Burgomaster. How about the time Vincent Price did a two part Brady Bunch in Hawaii? Where he's in the cave?  Well, ok lets not remember that episode, but enjoy your trip my friend. See ya when you come back.

Burgomaster is scanning both the world of film and the planet. Cool.

Good bye Burgomaster. If you should happen to meet a volcano, I believe Tom Hanks is available for a sequal o Joe Vs. The Volcano. Are you going to learn how to surf?

Yes, "Blue Hawaii" w/ Joan Blackman and Angela Lansbury.

If you are still there next year, we might see each other. As I plan my very first trip to Hawaii, next summer.

And you must learn to surf. Even mystery writer Dame Agatha Christie learned how to surf, when she was in Hawaii. Her on a surfboard. That would be a picture I'd love to see.

"Wasn't one of Elvis's movies set in Hawaii."

Wasn't most of them in Hawaii?  Maybe not, they just all have the same plot so they all seem the same to me.

Have a great trip, for some fun in the tropical sun!

Take lots of pics and post em here so we can get all jealous and list reasons why Burgo shouldn't be wearing a thong.

Seriously, though, have fun!

According to the intro to the guide at TV Tome, their names were Zeus & Apollo.

Thanks John, I knew it was something to do with the Gods.
Ye gods, why do things like this pop in my head?

Wow, tv show dogs. It's amazing how many I actually can remember. Why??? I'll be 90 years old dying and I may not know anything about geology or biochemistry but I can tell you Flash was Cooters dog in Dukes of Hazzard.

Well, I'm back from Hawaii.  I saw the place where they filmed the S.S. Minnow sailing out on its 3-hour tour at the beginning of GILLIGAN'S ISLAND.  I also saw the valley where they filmed parts of TEARS OF THE SUN, and the beach where they filmed some scenes for BLUE CRUSH, and the beach where they filmed the famous love scene among the waves in FROM HERE TO ETERNITY.  Do you find it strange that I just returned from 8 days in paradise, and these are the first things I mention?????

By the way, I also went to see Don Ho (those of you who are a little older will know who I'm talking about).  Anyway, if you ever go to Hawaii, skip the Don Ho show.  The guy is terrible.  He should have retired 15 years ago.  They have a poster of him in the lobby of the showroom from when he was about 30 years old.  He's 72 or 73 now and it just ain't the same.  Don, please, retire with some dignity!!!!!

I hope you had a great time, my best friend has been there twice and both times he said I'd love it. I'm glad you didn't get JAWSed at the beach.

Actually, THREE of Elvis' movies were set in Hawaii:

* BLUE HAWAII
* PARADISE, HAWAIIAN STYLE
* GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS

By the way, I also saw the building where Jack Lord is standing on the balcony during the opening credits of HAWAII-FIVE 0.  The shuttle driver was making fun of it.  He said that if you ever stood on a balcony at the top of that building you would realize that there is an almost constant wind blowing.  And Jack Lord's hair barely moved . . .
