Title: Arrghh!
Post by: RockDawg on September 14, 2001, 04:15:58 AM
I couldn't access the reviews for some reason to see if this movie was on the list,  but I rented "Alienator" starring Jan Michael Vincent, which I believe he was on his way down (or already there).  Oh man, I can't believe I sat through this crap!!  But I needed to get away from the horror from this week.

God Bless America

If you still can't get to reviews, Alienator is NOT on the list.

But c'mon, if the presence of Jan Michael-Vincent didn't tip you off, then the director, Fred Olen Ray, should've. Co-starring John Phillip Law of Barbarella, The Cassandra Crossing*, and of course Danger! Diabolik and Space Mutiny--what the hell, three doofs, each with three-name screen names? Yiegh. All we need now is Jean-Claude Van Damme. Oops, that's four names. Do I hear five?

*There ain't nothin' that makes a bad movie good like a Jerry Goldsmith score, and I'm gettin' The Cassandra Crossing on DVD just so I can have the soundtrack. It's one of my all-time favorites, with a grand, melodramatically tragic theme that has hints of his theme from The Incredible Hulk. The movie itself is astonishingly awful, with the single worst cast ever (Richard Harris AND Sophia Loren? Eeeeeeeeeeeeee) and a toy-train wreck, and is yet another John Phillip Law movie in which (like Space Mutiny) a character is killed on screen only to be seen walking around for the rest of the movie. Strange.

JMV and FOR - what an absolutely fiendish combination! You don't need any warnings that a movie involving those two is going to be anything other than 100% crap.
