By the "twists" I mean?

I pretty much knew they had to be hiding from the modern world.  All the talk about "the towns" could have ment nothing else.

Since M. Knight Shyamalan actually had ghosts, super-people, and aliens in his previous movies, I gave the monsters being real a 50/50 chance.  However, when the elders didn't seem all that concerned after the monsters made red slash marks on everyone's doors, I wasn't surprised when they turned out to be fake.

The Village had potential and would have been improved tremendously with just one change:  save the revelation of the monsters' fictitious nature until after Ivy killed Noah.  When she was attacked, you already knew it was just somebody dressed up (and it pretty much had to be Noah).  That took most of the oomph out of what could have been the movie's money scene.

After the first 45 minutes of this movie, I was so aggravated that I didn't care about the twists or surprises or anything else.  I just wanted my money (and my 45 minutes) back!

I'm never suprised. I found that every film that has a twist at the end OR a killer's identity is revealed at the end - you can almost with 90% accuracy predict it in the first 20 minutes of the film if you pay close enough attention.

The second person who talked about a murder of a family member in the 'town', made me realize it was modern day. Well, it wasn't a suprise, I have to admit going in KNOWING there would be a twist it was a definate possibility that i had already considered.
