Post by: Scott on September 04, 2004, 08:05:14 PM
VERA CRUZ (1954) - Good Western about a hidden gold shipment by the Mexican goverment and American mercenaries who are hired to protect the transport. Burt Lancaster, Gary Cooper, and other very young actors like Ernest Borgnine, Charles Bronson, and even Jack Elam star in this South of the border Western from the 50's. TCM showed it and I taped it and watched it tonight. Before the movie started the host  talked about the scenes in the film being written just moments before shooting the scenes. Landcaster and Cooper help the movie with some decent acting. A lot of  Mexican locations and one scene was near the large Aztec pyramid near Mexico City.

And a film that influenced the later Spaghetti Westerns.
