Title: Iron Monkey ****
Post by: Scott on October 16, 2001, 11:00:19 AM
Just seen IRON MONKEY at our new stadium seating theater here in S. Jersey. This is a great film that the adience really loved. It has subtitles and Quinten Tarentino is ivolved in this in some way. I seems at moments like an exagerated kung fu commercial, but it is truely a classic style Kung Fu movie with good story and action. I really liked this film. Its different than CROUCHING TIGER , HIDDEN DRAGON or a recent Jet Li film. If you get a chance see it on the big screen. 4 our or 5 stars.

The only thing that's stopping me from seeing it is that I've seen it a couple times already.  What I like is that they're showing a regular Hong Kong movie to an American audience, not trying to make an American crossover type film.  And Quentin Tarantino can lick my balls

I haven't seen Iron Monkey yet. However, when I saw Joyride last weekend, there was some guy (sounded like a teenager) in the front row who shouted "Iron Monkey" periodically during the film. Even weirder was the fact that that everyone understandably wanted to kick his ass the first couple of times he did it, but by the end of the movie, it was actually kind of funny and got a few laughs.

As somebody who usually wants silence during the first viewing of a movie, I still can't figure out why I thought it was funny.

I liked Joyride, by the way.
