Title: Cowboys of the Saturday Matinee (1984)
Post by: Scott on October 21, 2004, 08:51:58 PM
COWBOYS OF THE SATURDAY MATINEE (1984) - Documentary on all the Western Cowboy Serials with stars like Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Tex Ritter, John Wayne, Gabby Hayes, Trigger,  Champ, and many more. James Coburn host this VHS that I picked up for $2.99 at Boscov's Department store.  The whole thing just gave me a warm feeling inside with all the elements of what makes a Western singing cowboys, side kicks, villians, horses, women, etc.

Sounds cool, Scott. I've always enjoyed the old 30's B-Westerns. Have you ever seen RUSTLER'S RHAPSODY? It's an early 80's spoof/homage to the old B-Westerns, starring Tom Berringer. I'm probably the only person living who likes the movie, but I'd recommend it (if you haven't already seen it).

I remember seeing RUSTLER'S RHAPSODY on pay TV way back around the time it came out. I don't remember finishing it, but would like to see it again along with some of the other Western comedies that I may have missed. I'll put it on my list, but haven't seen it playing on tv or anywhere in a long time.
