Title: Calling All Quatermass Fans!
Post by: Gerry on October 25, 2001, 06:34:46 PM
A very good friend of mine in the UK is putting together a petition to deliver to the BBC for release of the 1955 serial "Quatermass 2"  on home video.  If you are interested in adding your name to this petition, please e-mail me at i0nesco@yahoo.com

BBC's "Quatermass 2" 3-hour miniseries served as the basis of the better known 1957 Hammer film QUATERMASS II a.k.a. ENEMY FROM SPACE starring Brian Donlevy.  It has never been released on commercial home video (though there are a few bad overpriced copies on the bootleg circuit).

Here's a bit on the other Quatermass films for the uninitiated.  The first Quatermass series "The Quatermass Experiment" was broadcast live, and only the first two episodes were recorded.  It was adapted in 1955 by Hammer as THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT a.k.a. THE CREEPING UNKNOWN, also starring Brian Donlevy.  The third serial, "Quatermass and the Pit," is available on commercial VHS.  It was adapted in 1967 as QUATERMASS AND THE PIT a.k.a. FIVE MILLION YEARS TO EARTH, starring Hammer regular Andrew Keir.

Should you decide to join the petition, your names and e-mail addresses will be used for this purpose and this purpose only.  I have no ulterior motive here.  I just want to finally see this science fiction classic receive a home video release.

Regards,
Gerry

Very good Idea, these are two really good Hammer films.. Didn't know they made  serials of them, very cool! I can't wait.
