Sounds like a totally different movie to me. I bet they don't even wire up the seats like William Castle did.
The Tingler (http://www.comingsoon.net/news.php?id=7206)

Looks pretty similar, although I imagine it will have to be a very different story, since the original premise would probably be too silly for audiences today. Of course, that's the same silliness that makes the Tingler so much fun. This is probably the last Castle flick I ever thought anyone would remake.
So this is not connected with the same people who remade House on Haunted Hill and 13 Ghosts?

SCREAM! SCREAM FOR YOUR LIVES!!!
Sorry, but no CGI Tingler fer me, thanks.
This may be good, if done right.
Hmmmmmmmmm I dunno, why don't they leave William Castle in peace?
I agree with onionhead and trek_geezer (how old are both of u - if u don't mind telling :) I'm 29) & Caslte was a true 'crap' artist - in a good way, of course. & Vincent Price - a true artist and professional up to the very end. RIP

They've gone TOO far with this! Leave the tingler alone! Without Vincent Price it won't be as good and with CGI (and I'm expecting R rated Gore) it'll be another inferior remake.
onya dave!
reagan:
What's that mean? "Calm down!"? or "I'm with ya!"?
heck, no. Aren't those remakes bad - like House on Haunted Hill - Spooky (sat in theatre scaring pants off - don't you love Jeffery Combs? ) Then it turned to a CGI laughfest. Love the old days of Latex and foam.
So you're saying you're with me on the part of "no remakes, no CGI"? cool. I'm seventeen but I love latex and foam, and puppets and machanics!
I'm 49 going on 19.
This is most certainly a bad idea.
And it looks like the guys at "Dark Castle Films" are behind this one. You know them. The same guys who made crap like 13 Ghosts, House On Haunted Hill, Gothika, etc. Why do they feel the need to crap on everything that Castle gave us?
There is a possibility that Dark Castle isn't behind it, but from doing some research it looks like they may be. This film is being made for Columbia Pictures who seems to have strong ties to Dark Castle.......
I will certainly go see this film if there is some type of jump inducer as Castle had before. One can only imagine the possibilites, especially with our more advanced technology.
The producer is Neal Moritz who has done movies like 2Fast2Furious, Sweet Home Alabama, The Skulls II&III, and the remake of S.W.A.T.
The writer is a guy named Greg Pace, who from what I can tell hasn't done much writing except for a documnentary about racing.
Yeah, I definently do not have a good feeling about this flick.
2Fast2Furious, The Skulls 2 and 3?
Arrrgh....
>I bet they don't even wire up the seats like William Castle did.
In this day and age??? If they did that they'd get sued by some idiot claiming that they were traumatized by the experience, that they can no longer go to the theater, that they suffered nervous system damage, etc.
Heh, have everyone sign a waiver before they can enter the theater.
If there're no wired seats, I ain't goin'
I love the end of Matinee when the old guy says to John Goodman's character that the only problem with shocking patrons would be if some of them had already wet their pants. I guess that would complete a circuit.
I'm actually surprised they haven't gotten around to this one sooner. I figured if there was any Castle film that people would want to take a shot at it would be the one with the best and most notorious gimmick. This is probably my favorite film of his, but I can see why Hollywood big ego types couldn't resist messing with this one and believing they can do it better with CGI and such. They're wrong, I'm just surprised it took this long for someone to try it.
But looking at the list of his films, there are some I wouldn't mind seeing remade like "Mr. Sardonicus", "Homicidal", or "Straitjacket". And there are some like "Zotz!" or "Shanks" that I wish someone would be dumb enough to try to remake. They could always try remaking "Jesse James Vs. the Daltons" his grade-Z 50s 3-D western.
Castle cranked out a lot of "product" himself as a producer, writer, and director, and even remade "The Old Dark House" so I have a hard time being a purist about his work. He was a hell of a showman, but he was also a businessman, and moviemaking is still a business even if there are a lot of idiots and egomaniacs making the decisions.
What a shame, yet another remake that'll quickly go to video and make a minimal profit. Why should the new generation of kids see the originals when they're going to be remade?
In Australia (boring reagan :D) we have had all Castle movies in cinemas. All crap. Like with other "remakes" - Hollywood use a brain: but not Donovans LOL
