Post by: peter johnson on November 20, 2004, 08:51:42 PM "The Innocents"(1961), starring Deborah Kerr, is playing in Colorado tonight on Denver PBS station Channel 6, with no commercial or pledge-break interruptions. Fire up yo' DVD/VHS recorders & have at it!!
If you have seen it/if you haven't seen it, this is one of the Good good ones -- perhaps the best single psychological ghost/possession story of its day, and maybe of all time -- certainly in the top 10 somewhere of any good ghost-movie list. "Enter, my Lord! . . . " In all its glorious black-and-white!! From Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw", which is a pretty fair piece of ghost-story literature in itself. An amazingly successful adaptation -- really skews the whole "the book was better than the movie" model, as both have their own unique take and power. Stays true to its fantastic premises!
