Title: "The Innocents" on PBS Tonight!!
Post by: peter johnson on November 20, 2004, 08:51:42 PM
"The Innocents"(1961), starring Deborah Kerr, is playing in Colorado tonight on Denver PBS station Channel 6, with no commercial or pledge-break interruptions.  Fire up yo' DVD/VHS recorders & have at it!!
If you have seen it/if you haven't seen it, this is one of the Good good ones -- perhaps the best single psychological ghost/possession story of its day, and maybe of all time -- certainly in the top 10 somewhere of any good ghost-movie list.
"Enter, my Lord! . . . "
In all its glorious black-and-white!!  From Henry James' "The Turn of the Screw", which is a pretty fair piece of ghost-story literature in itself.  An amazingly successful adaptation -- really skews the whole "the book was better than the movie" model, as both have their own unique take and power.
Stays true to its fantastic premises!  Stays firm in water!  Act now!!  Operators are standing by!!

Maybe the best haunted/ghost story Peter Johnson. Top 3 for sure. You never know at the end what really happened.
