Post by: Scott on December 06, 2004, 11:55:38 PM MAD DOG MORGAN (1976) - Australia film that stars Dennis Hopper as real life wildman Dan Morgan in the Australian outback in the 1860's. The film starts out in a gold camp and then he wanders into a Chinese opium den were the locals burn the den and then kill them. Some poor guy who accompanies Morgan to the opium den gets his head blown off in a very visual scene. Then Morgan (Hopper)goes to jail and gets raped and seriously sodomized in prison in a scene you won't soon forget. Dennis Hopper acting is way out there in this one. It makes his Apocalypse Now character look like a normal guy. A must see for Dennis Hopper fans. You'll also like the music and his aboriginal friend who saves his life. Good film !

The story is really simple and you almost get the impression that a few actors wanted to vacation in the Carribean and made a little film while they were there. One of the female stars France Nuyen is the woman who cries on Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek series. Don't bother with this one unless your a fan of the actors or you like Carribean settings. The best scene is the police chasing a dune buggy near the ocean and the under water cave scene. Post by: Scott on December 08, 2004, 10:44:05 AM MAD DOG MORGAN is a good film that has similiar special effects of Peter Jacksons earlier film DEAD ALIVE. It's only one part with the guy getting his head partial blown off. A giant hole right in the middle. MAD DOG MORGAN is also a true story about a man from Australia and it's an Autralian production. Good deal for $2.
