Title: Shattered Glass (2003)
Post by: Ash on December 11, 2004, 06:13:51 PM
Hey everyone...long time no see!

I caught this awesome film early the other morning.
I almost didn't watch it...I started flipping through other channels and then returned to HBO and decided to watch it.
I wasn't disappointed.

It's the story of Stephen Glass who worked as a writer for the magazine The New Republic and how he fabricated 27 stories while employed there.

Hayden Christiensen (Anakin Skywalker) stars as Glass and he's the perfect choice to play him.
He knows what he's written is bogus and people over at Forbes Digital discover certain lies about his stories and begin to investigate.
Even his own editor becomes suspicious, starts his own investigation and eventually confronts Glass.
Glass comes up with some truly ingenious ways of squirming out of the crosshairs but none of them play for very long.

Eventually, everyone at The New Republic discovers that he's been making up his articles for quite a while.
His entire world starts to crumble around him as others learn of his lies.

Also, go HERE (http://www.shatteredglassmovie.com/index_flash.html) to visit the official site and watch the trailers.

I highly recommend this film.
Have you seen it?  What did you think?

Just watched the flick and I must say it was quite good.  I had expected greatness due to the rave reviews it recieved when first released and I wasn't disappointed.

Ash put a pretty good description of the film up, so I'll skip that part.  I will say though that Hayden Christensen is one to look out for.  He's doing great stuff, and it really amazes me.  I compare him to a young Nick Cage.  Why?  Because when he plays a character, you can feel the character eventhough it's just Hayden being Hayden.  Much as Cage's films are just Cage being Cage.  I hope that makes sense.

This film also features one of my favorite female actresses: ChloĆ« Sevigny.  Atleast in this film she wasn't giving anyone a BJ on film....(look her up on google to find out what I mean).

Overall well worth a rent, if not a buy.  I love minimalist character dramas and this one delievered 100%.
