Title: What Movie Is This?
Post by: Ash on January 21, 2005, 10:37:37 PM
This is driving me and a couple friends crazy.

What film has a scene with a black guy chanting "Yama Yama Yama Yama Yaaama."?

(Yama as in 'Yamaha')

I recall that it was supposed to be a funny scene.
For the life of me, I can't remember what film that happened in.
Anyone?

Isn't that from Police Academy? Part 3 or 4 or one of the later ones... I haven't seen those flicks in ages.

It was Hightower playing a prank on the citizen recruits.

Yes, it was Hightower (Bubba Smith) made up to look like rastafarian(sp?) prisoner in the back on the police van. They thought that a couple of the new recruits were too cocky, so they came up with a plan to scare them. They put Smith in the back with the recruits and Tackleberry in a body bag. Smith is pretending to be some kind of voodoo priest trying to revive his dead brother and keeps chanting "Yamma, yamma, yaaamma". Gutenberg and the other cop with him tell the recruits that they're going for coffee and leave the recruits alone. Smith sprinkles something on the body bag and suddenly there's the sound of a chainsaw starting. Tackleberry cuts his way out of the bag and sits up wearing a hockey mask. The recruits burst out the back of the truck and run away screaming while the cops laugh.

Ah...That's it!
How could I have forgotten that?

Great scene!
Now that I think about it, wasn't one of those recruits in the back of the police van a young David Spade?
