Title: Zombie's Eyeball scene: Not gory
Post by: Jack Corbett on February 05, 2005, 04:33:56 AM
I have downlaoded it on this site and, I'm serious folks, it isn't that bad. I'l admit, it WOULD hurt, but I didn't find it disgusting at all.

Then again, this post is coming from a person that watches The Evil Dead to get to sleep at night.

Did you find it gory? And, more importantly, am I an idiot for saying it isn't?

It's not so much gory as it just makes one squirm the first time seeing it. Some directors would hint at something about to happen, Fulci gives you a hint and then shows you exactly what happens. He pulls no punches.

I admit, It's goo how Fulci did it, but I just didn't find it gory.

By the way, how many films in the series are there?

Title: Re: Zombie's Eyeball scene: Not gory

Fulci made three zombie movies that are considered his trilogy although other than zombies they are not related. They are:

ZOMBIE/ZOMBI 2

CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD/THE GATES OF HELL

THE BEYOND/SEVEN DOORS OF DEATH

Some also count ZOMBIE 3 as Fulci's since it does carry his name but he left the production about 20% of the way into the film and Mattei took over.

The numerical series of films using the title zombie/zombi are:

ZOMBI (A.K.A. DAWN OF THE DEAD)

ZOMBI 2 (Fulci)

ZOMBIE 3: NIGHTS OF TERROR (Bianchi)(Not the same as the Fulci/Mattei ZOMBIE 3)

ZOMBIE 4: AFTERDEATH (Fragasso)

ZOMBIE 5: KILLING BIRDS (Lattanzi/Massaccesi)(Actually made before ZOMBIE 4: AFTERDEATH)

ZOMBIE 6: MONSTER HUNTER (Don't know)

Other than using a numerical title, none of them are related and ZOMBIE 6: MONSTER HUNTER is not even a zombie movie.

Some video distibutors also have put out different movies in the numerical sequence. You can find copies of ZOMBIE 4: A VIRGIN AMONG THE LIVING DEAD on VHS for example.

Well, that should help to not clear up one ounce of confusion. (:

You find THE EVIL DEAD to be that boring that it puts you to sleep?

Of course not Jack....of course not  (:

I do NOT find the Evil Dead boring. If I find a film boring... well, that never really happens. It is quite common for me to watch a movie about ten times in four days, (the most recent film I have done that to is Return of the Living Dead) or numerous times after the first time I watched it.

Didn't you see the "Names Ash (Cocks shotgun) Housewares." qoute on my early posts?

I don't find the Evil Dead boring. Not even Pitch Black, Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness, Alien, Aliens, Predator, ThenLost World: Jurassic Park, Dawn of the Dead '04, The 007 Series...

This list goes on. Real on.

Hey Jack...that was a joke.

I'm not distrubed easily either. . The best eyeball gore scene I've ever seen though is in Naked Blood. I rarely get squirmy about movie scenes but that one was like "Oh my Gawd, did I just see that?!" The drinking of urine in Untold Stroy got me squirming too. The Asian stuff is the most extreme for some reason.

"Then again, this post is coming from a person that watches The Evil Dead to get to sleep at night."

Strange, Zombie actually has more gore than Evil Dead though.

Menard - I thought you thought I found TED boring. Sorry.

Dudeman, what is the eyeball bit in Naked Blood?

I was using ED as an example that I don't freak easily. Then again, I laughed my head off (pardon the pun) in Braindead.

Heh.  I dislike both the EVIL DEAD series and BRAINDEAD for that very reason....they're just too humorous to have any impact.  Give me Fulci any day, even when his effects are less than perfect.

Hey, blkride, are you new to the site? I just want to know, and I ain't gonna tease you, 'cause I came on about a week ago.

woman stabd her own eye with a fork, rips it out, and eats it, most extreme movie I've seen in years

I've got a couple videos that would make you squirm and the best part is that they're not fake. ;)

I watched a video on my cousin's computer of a rabbit being run over.

Try me, John L. Try me.

PS I am NOT being nasty. Sorry if it sounds like it.

Is the "L" short for "Landis"?

Don't you just hate it when someone quotes you out of context? (heh..heh)

Hehe. I've downloaded some pretty twisted videos (I have a morbid curiousity);

Let's see, I have a short one that shows the start of an autopsy on a woman.

Then there's the one with an African kid being circumsized with a machete.

A soldier having his head sawed off with a large knife (not the recent Iraqi videos)

A man in the middle east being anally impaled in public with a large stake.

A man having his scrotum cut open with a scalpel, one of his testicles pulled out through the opening, needles driven into it and then removed, the testicle pushed back in and the opening sewn up. This one's especially hard for most to watch since the cutting isn't quick and neat, instead the person has to pinch the skin, stick the scapel in and then saw it back and forth as they pull it out, kind of like using a letter opener.

A man having the underside of his penis cut open with medical scissors and stitched back up as they go.  For some reason, these last two usually make guys cross their legs and wince. :)

Then there's the short video with the title of The Vomit Queen. Not gory, but most people have to look away when the cute Asian girl takes the bowl she just threw up in, starts scooping up the stringy liquid with her hand and licking it off her fingers.

Interested?

If you want to test yourself, check out;

Rotten.com (http://www.rotten.com)

Make sure you check out the "Blond" link about 1/3 of the way down the page.

For those who like this sort of stuff, you can find more recent stuff at;

Ogrish (http://www.ogrish.com)

Unfortunately they've made their video archive members only (it used to be free). I used to know of another site that had a lot of bizarre stuff, buut I haven't been there in over a year and don't remember the URL.

>Is the "L" short for "Landis"?

Nope, sorry.

Ah. I retract my statement. Then again, I can stomach "fake-ish" gore, but realistic s**t makes me wince.

Good Ol' Rotten.com! My cousin's accessed it at my place when I was 8 and WHADDYA KNOW?

By the way, I saw a picture of a guy with much of his head blown off by a shotgun on that website. But YEARS ago. And I didn't really care about what it was. (I was into dinosaurs)

Did YOU find the eyeball bit gory?

Where'd you get these vids from?  I have a similar morbid curiosity.  Although I've got you topped on the Vomit Queen.  I've seen one that has two cute Asian girls, both sitting in a bath, vomiting into each other's mouths and eating it.

And getting back on topic, if you want a nasty Fulci scene, the girl yakking up her digestive tract in "Gates of Hell" is right up there.

The original opening for my film "Zombification" was a guy, at a barbeque, chucking a s**t and his guts come out, but he doesn't notice.  He zombifies outside, and his guts come alive and slither outside.

Cue much bloodshed and gore.

Aww, come on, wat's wrong with a little testicle slicing? :)

>Did YOU find the eyeball bit gory?

Actually, I haven't watched it. I'm almost always busy downloading someting else, but I'll try and make time to grab a copy of it.

>Where'd you get these vids from? I have a similar morbid curiosity. Although I've

I think I got the first four (autopsy, circumcision, head cutting, impalement) from sites like Ogrish (if not Ogrish itself). The last three (testicles, penis, vomit) came from various newsgroups.

>got you topped on the Vomit Queen. I've seen one that has two cute Asian girls,
>both sitting in a bath, vomiting into each other's mouths and eating it.

I think I have another one that's similar to that one.

Are you interested in trading? I have some others floating around (just have to try and remember what the filenames are).

The realistic stuff makes me wince. It disgusts me, although I can stomach it after the first few times. (e.g. the death of Sledge in DotD '78 on this site) Most of it makes my jaw drop with shock and awe.

By the way, on my "Day of the Dead remake ideas" thread, what do you think of those deaths? Gory enough?
