People using teleport was one of the main reasons I had to make the changes. My server is on a bit less than a T-1 line. Get just one person downloading with teleport on a DSL or cable modem and all my bandwidth was spiked. Let alone the people who must have been on T-3s. Most small websites can easily support several people on 56k modems downloading as fast as they can, but if you're using a DSL, cable modem, or faster, then limiting your speed to about that of a modem is the kind thing to do. I do it all the time when ftping or such. Throttle to modem speed and leave it alone for a few hours - the server admin never even notices.
