Title: Anyone know what horror (thriller?) film this is?
Post by: Break It on April 19, 2005, 07:08:35 PM

Asked this on alt.horror, but as usual, I just got a bunch of dumb answers... so I'm posting here cause I figure you guys are respectful.

Anyway, here's the film... it's about this family, wife husband and two kids, a girl who's about seven or so and young boy who's maybe, I dunno five or something.  I think (but am not sure) the mother is a bit mentally unstable.  I distinctly remember a scene where she comes out where a orange dress and says to her son (who's sitting on the bed) "Well, what do you think?  Do you like my new dress?"  She mentions how she just bought but her daughter (who's also in the room) is confused, she already had a dress like that.  The little girl goes to the closet and comes back with an identical dress.  At this point the mom breaks down and starts crying.

Later in the film, the two kids go missing and the dad seems to think they've been kidnaped.  I recall him saying something to a police officer like, "I'll sign anything, I just want my kids back."  Guessing maybe he thinks someone at his job or related to his work took his kids?  I dunno..

I really don't know off-hand how the films ends (guessing maybe mom might have bumped them off in a fit of depression or something.)  I think the film was made in the mid-eighties, might possibly even take place in England (but again, I'm really not sure.)

If anyone has any idea what this might be, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

I think we've finally been stumped. No idea. Sounds like it might be a scene out of "Flowers in the Attic" or "Mommy Dearest" but I'm just speculating as I havent seen either in years.
