I just received and watched my copy of this recently released DVD.  I had never seen this movie before, and I must say, it was worth the wait.

The story, filmed in Canada, involves 2 children (a boy and a girl) whose father (Terry O'Quinn from THE STEPFATHER), a doctor, uses an anatomically correct, plastic, transparent medical statue to teach his children various lessons.  He makes the statue (named "Pin," which is short for "Pinocchio") "talk" by using ventriloquism, and the children believe that Pin is a real person.

As the children grow older, the girl stops believing in Pin, but the boy does not.  This is the basis for what turns out to be a pretty interesting, sometimes disturbing, psycholigical thriller.  There isn't much blood and gore, so if that's what you are looking for, this is not the movie for you.  But I do recommend it as a weird, creepy thriller.

I think this would make a good double feature with THE CHANGELING (starring George C. Scott).

I agree that this film is really creepy. When is Terry O'Quinn not creepy?

I remember seeing the trailer with a friend ages ago, and wondering how on earth something like this could be scary.  We looked at each other and thought, 'why the heck would someone be scared of a plastic mannequin?  What a dumb concept!'

If the movie is indeed creepy, then it might be worth a watch.

The trailer is on the DVD and I think it is a poorly assembled preview of the movie.  The movie is better than what you see in the trailer.  I'm not going to say that it is "scary," but is is definitely "creepy," and occasionally disturbing.
