Title: JohnL
Post by: odinn7 on May 01, 2005, 10:26:50 PM
Has anyone heard form JohnL lately? I'm wondering how he's doing with that rough spell he's going through and we haven't seen him post here in quite some time. I hope he's doing ok and everything works out for him.

I was considering posting something about him as well.  I hope he's doing ok.  It would be great to hear from him.

I was thinking about seeing if anyone had heard from him. I would imagine running that bar and trying to sort out all his folks affairs if keeping him pretty busy.

I was just thinking about John as well. Was actually thinking about a few regulars who have pretty much disappeared. It was the mention of Squishy in another thread that brought the subject to mind. It got me thinking there have been quite a few guys who used to be regulars, but haven't posted in maybe a year or two. Kind of got me wondering. It would be particularly good to get an update on JohnL, hopefully telling us how good the bar business is. The other one I really wondered about was J.R., who, if he was telling the truth about his illness, might be dead.

Yeah, there have been quite a few members to just disappear.  One that I've wondered about lately was Neon Noodle.  He used to post every day, then about a year ago just disappeared.

I've noticed we don't see the Burgomeister much anymore either.

Sometimes people's interests take them elsewhere.  Other times, events or other factors in their life mean they have to cut back on leisure activities, so they fade away.  It is always good to see them pop back up and say hello, even if only for a brief few visits.

I do get worried when people disappear, like JohnL, after going through hard times.  I hope that he is doing well.

Hate to sound like a broken record but I too was wondering about JohnL . I Forgot about Neon Noodle unitl Skaboi mentioned it. Evan3 is other one. For some reason I remember Iguanagirl but i don't think she was a regular.

I've been wondering about him, too.  Hopefully, things are going okay and he's just busy.  IIRC, his last couple of posts were a bit more positive sounding, and it did seem he had some friends/support nearby to help him.

Wow.
Some one Remembers Squishy? Makes me feel old, somehow...
Yeah, life does intrude. I just don't have the TIME i need to viset all the sites i like. It takes an hour for to get the best of some places.

JohnL said something about his Internet service probably getting cancelled and I'm sure he's had more important things to do than get reconnected.  If he's like anyone else I ever met, he'll worry about getting back on line just as soon as he finds himself settled and with spare time.  You don't recover from losing both your mom and dad in just two months.

A few others don't post much anymore like ASHTHECAT, Susan, Boyscoutkevin, Deej, and as mentioned Burgomaster use to post regularly. They all jump in periodically, but not like they use to. Hope JohnL is doing better.  I also remember Squishy as (he or was it she) use to go to Japan to see latest Godzilla release. There was also Chadzilla long ago. Sometimes I wonder if they simply changed their names, but I don't think so.

Anyone remember the fellows name who told us he was dying and only a few weeks to live and then he suddenly stopped posting. He use to be a regular on the board about 3 years + ago I believe.

Yeah, that was J.R. I'm really curious about what's happened to him.

Another one who dissappeared was wickednyck the pro wrestler from Minnesota or Wisconson. Can't remember.

Many of the regulars that I remember from when I first started posting have been gradually phasing out, such as Neonnoodle, wyckednick and gang.  Even Ashthecat and daveblackeye don't pitch in nearly as much as they used to [we hear from them everynow and then, but alas no toilet paper posts]

Maybe we need to spice up the board with offers for free beer and chips...

But didn't JohnL pop his head in recently?  Unless I'm getting my John's mixed up, I thought he made a comment recently [unless it was just an old thread resurfacing...]

Hope he's going well...

Like many others I hope JohnL and the others that have disappeared are doing allrigth and just lost interest.

True Dean I haven't been posting as much but I'm a bit busy for the last few weeks. I've been doing my Eagle Project and various college preperations. Don't worry it's kind of routine for me to slow down then pop back in with more posts.

Actually I figured as much, since I remembered you were about that age.

Remember, study first, I can't imagine we here would contribute much to your project what with all our inane, silly ramblings.  [what is this eagle project anyway?]

Inane, silly ramblings? Inane, silly ramblings? What are you trying to say?

I suspect the Eagle Project is a top secret project he's working on to build a cyborg combat bald eagle for the military...but don't tell anyone, ok?

I'll take you up on the offer for free beer and chips.  I haven't been posting as much as I used to, too.  Stupid things like work and life keep intruding.

dean, a Eagle Project is one of the last things a Boy Scout has to do to become the highest rank in boy scout, Eagle. IT's a community service project where you try and get 100 man hours put in. I'm almost there I can TASTE it!

That's hilarious!
I'd like to see a drawing of that eagle.
Would it be all chrome or metal endoskeleton surrounded by living flesh on the outside?
I'm sure it would have eye lasers and mini Hellfire missles under its wings.

Ash, I cannot answer that...you'll need to talk to Dave about it. I fear I've already revealed too much.

Woo Hoo!  They're reforming the old band!

Good to see the Neon Noodle return.  Your name always cracks me up via memories of old Daffy the Duck cartoons ["Neon Noodle!!"]

>Noodle!

>Where you been?

Been laid off from my job, most recently. I had been the "website guy" for about 1.5 years, then the company merged (nice term for 'bought out') by...you guessed it...a website company. 4 months after the merge I got a month's severance pay and a big boot in my ass on the way out the door.

I've been interviewing for the last 5 weeks and as anyone who has been jobless knows, it sucks. TRULY SUCKS. I do chuckle at job postings for sales, one has to wonder if salespeople make so much money, why is the turnover rate so high? hmmm....

I was searching in here for an old topic and I stumbled into this thread, and it made me nostalgic for folks who line up to see movies like "Cry Wolf" and post about its awfulness within 30 minutes after leaving the theater. 8^)

Watching bad movies on comcast between interviews also made me think of the .org crowd in here. I've seen Sphere about 10 times on demand and it just gets more and more odd each time I watch it. Not better, just more odd.

L8r.......The Neon.

Glad you're back Neon, it's good to see some of the crowd that was here when I first started posting a couple of years ago.

If you are still looking and want to do some contract sales, let me know.  I'm looking for part-timers who will work straight commissions (but the potential is there for some decent money).

Field is software and technical consulting services.
