Title: Actors who look
Post by: The Burgomaster on October 04, 2005, 11:10:49 AM
Certain actors look "stinky" to me.  I don't mean their acting ability . . . I mean their personal hygiene.  Here are some actors who usually look like they have either unpleasant body odor or bad breath (or both):

*  Victor Buono
* James Coburn
* Lee Marvin
* Dub Taylor
* Slim Pickens
* Richard Widmark
* Warren Oates
* Jack Elam

Maybe it's because they often play characters who are dirty (like cowboys who have been on the trail for weeks without a bath).

Can you think of any others?  And please don't ask me how I came up with THIS topic . . .

Hey, leave Coburn and Marvin outta this...

Let's see:
Colin Farrell
Johnny Depp
Keifer Sutherland
Sean Penn

There's more, I'm just drawing a blank right now.
Hey, how did you come up with THIS topic anyway?

LOL (http://www.smileys.ws/sm/laughing/00000001.gif) The theater should provide scratch and sniff cards. Might as well throw in Richard Boone.

Billy Bob Thornton - I never got that close to him in High School so I don't know if he actually smells or not, but he now looks like he does..

Irwin Keys looks like he might smell kinda sweet.

Who could forget Charles Bronson from this list? Ahnold looks like he might be kinda acrid smelling. Oh, what about any of the Carradines? And lets not leave out those stinky ladies. Anybody else think Faye Dunaway might clear a set if people weren't compromising?

El Topo, particularly the first twenty minutes, always brings to mind all kinds of horrible odors.

Danny Trejo

I imagine him smelling like sweat and old stale Mexican beer.

How about Mickey Jones?

Or maybe Ernest Borgnine, or Wallace Shawn.

My mom always said she thought Judge Bork, who was nominated for the Supreme Court, looked like he smelled.

My vote goes for Timothy Carey. I'm revolted  by his looks.

-benecio del toro,  i'm surprised he's not on the list. if you watch an older movie of his,  you almost don't recognize him. he seriously needs to wash his hair. he's aged very badly, i don't think he's even 30.

-birol unel, i probably spelled his last name wrong, but he is from gegen die wand (head on- its english title) i think he is the turkish/german equivilant to del toro

-tara reid, yeah she doesn't look particularly dirty, but someone should notify the CDC on her. i bet she also smells like cigarettes and gin.

-clive owen, he just looks like he has been awake for several days wearing the same suit and hanging out in crappy bars. i will forever think of him as a pervy englishman because of closer.

And we wonder why actors go a bit nuts. People can be incredibly brutal. The usual snap judgements people make (vain, difficult, untalented, overrated, etc.) would require a thick enough skin, but can you imagine if one of these guys happened to find this board and read this thread? People think they look smelly. If that wouldn't give you a complex, nothing would.

That's not to say it isn't funny.

Screw 'em if they can't take a joke.
But really, for the kind of money they make in general...if I made that kind of money, people could call me anything they want to.

But just try to imagine the reaction somebody would have on learning that complete strangers, from observing them on film, have speculated that they might be smelly. "Why would they think that? Do I look smelly? Am I smelly?" It would drive any slightly insecure person up the wall. That's what's making me laugh.

I know what you're saying and it is quite amusing.

Scott. Theaters actually provided scratch 'n' sniff cards for John Waters' "Polyester." And you could get them at Burger King and Blockbuster for "The Rugrats Gone Wild."

As for films . . . "Lair of the White Worm"

"My, god! Kevin. You have such appalling b.o. And save your breath. You have halitosis, too."

But, that was a character called Kevin, the Scout, played by Chris Pitt in the film. And as an actor, he never looked any stinkier then any other actor.

As for actor, who truly stank in real life . . .

William Barclay "Bat" Masterson, who can be seen playing himself in "Jack Johnson." My godfather, who was a deputy sheriff in the wild West, when the West was really wild, knew "Bat" slightly. And he said he never knew "Bat" to take a bath. The most "Bat" would do, to cover up the ordor, was to splash himself with cheap cologne, now and then. I guess it wouldn't pay to stand down wind of the man on a windy day.

I used to work with a girl with that level of insecurity.

I was talking to a co-worker when she approached and I said "Okay we have to stop talking about her now.  Here she comes."

She looked at me and said "I know you guys think I'm a b***h."

My reply was "We don't think you're a b***h, we think you're a flake."

She spent the rest of the day asking everyone else in the place what a flake was and whether they thought she was one and I ended up with a verbal reprimand for 'insulting her'.

Has anyone mentioned Shelley Winters (old fat lady smell)
                                                Claude Akins (old drunk smell)
                                          or Eli Wallach (old drunk Mexican smell)
