Title: Audition Post by: Amanda on December 20, 2005, 10:15:52 PM Has anyone here seen Audition? I saw John Landis talking about this on 100 scariest movies of all time (or whatever), and decided to rent it.
This movie disturbed me, but overall, it was good. From a creepy, unnerving perspective. Torture stuff isn't usually my thing, but this kept my interest. Not one I would add to my personal collection, or really even watch again, but worth seeing once. It kept my "what the hell??" meter on high. Title: Re: Audition Post by: C.B.W. on December 21, 2005, 03:25:41 AM From the second they showed that "sack" I was hopelessly glued to the screen...I couldn't wait to see what was in it! And then ofcourse my waiting payed off in spades...Great movie from a director who's work is (at times) hit or miss.
Title: Re: Audition Post by: Mr_Vindictive on December 21, 2005, 12:30:05 PM Yep, Audition is one of Miike's best flicks.
The film is so cold, bleak and has a feeling of......isolation. Great little film. Title: Re: Audition Post by: The Burgomaster on December 21, 2005, 05:09:59 PM I bought the DVD back in 2004 and I agree, it is pretty disturbing.
Title: Re: Audition Post by: trekgeezer on December 21, 2005, 07:58:49 PM Is this the Japanese film where the shy girl takes the guy home and start sawing off body parts? I know the part where she was sawing his foot off was quite disturbing.
Title: Re: Audition Post by: Scott on December 21, 2005, 08:07:12 PM I also first heard of AUDITION on Scariest Movies Moments last year. I still haven't seen it except for the clips on the TV special. Netflix does have a copy.
Title: Re: Audition Post by: Amanda on December 21, 2005, 09:24:18 PM Yep....that's the one. I did think it was a good movie...just somewhat strange and off-putting. It absolutely succeeds in creeping you out.
The girl is so shy and sweet and adorable and totally insane. Title: Re: Audition Post by: Neville on December 22, 2005, 07:40:15 AM Still have to see it. I have a low tolerance for gore and something tells me some bits will be too much for me. All my friends speak wonders of it, though, so it's in my list.
Title: Re: Audition Post by: Mr_Vindictive on December 22, 2005, 10:44:31 AM Neville,
The gore level in the film isn't too bad. It certainly isn't anything remotely close to some of Miike's other films, like Ichi The Killer. Title: Re: Audition Post by: Neville on December 22, 2005, 12:00:23 PM Glad to hear that.
Title: Re: Audition Post by: Archivist on January 03, 2006, 01:52:30 AM If you want a thriller that starts off looking almost innocent, and slowly turning into nightmare, get this movie. I didn't know much about it until I picked up a cheap copy, and I was lulled into a sense of pleasant curiosity. It subtly becomes more and more dream-like and twisted until the very end, in which I was thinking, 'no way, she can't do that ... holy heck, she's doing it ... oh crap, she's not stopping ... aaarrggh!'
Watch this movie. Definitely. ~Archivist~ Title: Re: Audition Post by: odinn7 on January 03, 2006, 09:04:25 AM Stupid question but is this film in English or do you have to read subtitles?
Title: Re: Audition Post by: Mr_Vindictive on January 03, 2006, 09:07:04 AM Subtitled.
