Trying to remember this movie, I think I saw it on TV in the early '90s but it could have been from the '80s.  A bunch of people come together for a martial arts competition, and it's a fight to the death.  I think the fights took place in a fairly small room, if I remember correctly.  There are two female competitors, along with a bunch of males, and one of the females (who was a cute blond I think) got killed very quickly in her fight.  The other female character was one of the main characters in the story.  Her and some guy end up running around outside in the dark a lot.  I don't know if they were investigating this place where the fights were taking place, or if they were just trying to escape from the place, or what.

Any guesses?  It wasn't an Oriental film, it seemed like some low budget American thing.

One of the "Kickboxer" films, perhaps?  A reader review for #4 was recently posted:

I don't recognize the movie, but early 90's and a cute blond female martial artist makes me think Cynthia Rothrock.  Do you remember if this gal was in it?

If so, that may help you narrow the list.

Hmmm...that Kickboxer 4 sounds very similar as far as plot, and I know I've seen it.  Perhaps that's the one I'm remembering.  The only differences I can think of is that I'm almost sure the cute girl gets killed in her fight, gets her neck snapped after about 10 seconds.  I think the other woman was a competitor as well, but I don't believe she ever fought, just ended up running around a dark loading dock with the guy.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a Cynthia Rothkrock film, I've seen most of her movies and I don't think she was in this one.  Those things can be incredibly silly cheezy fun  :teddyr:

Perhaps "Fist of Justice" then, with Cory Everson?

I think the problem with finding this one is that so many kickboxing/fighting movies include neck snapping kills.

I'm pretty sure I would have remembered Cory, I used to watch her workout show for years  :teddyr:  I didn't recognize anyone in this film.  I'll have to pick up the Kickboxer 3 & 4 DVd, even if that's not the one, it sounds like a lot of fun anyway.  Who knows, I may just discover my memory is all screwed up.
