STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN it's gonna be 22 years!!!  I saw him 8 weeks before he died!
I have fond memories of that show.

STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN opened for JOE COCKER.  The audience was there for STEVIE.  I myself, though I had STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN's Couldn't Stand The Weather album and loved him (the show was perfection) was there for JOE COCKER (I'm sure I've reported time and again how I yelled at the fools who walked out after STEVIE left the stage  "JOE COCKER's coming on!!!"  )
A lot of people missed COCKER, but, they were there for STEVIE.
I don't care; both acts were perfection.  I could watch them both every night.

Actually it's 22 years this August.

I still continue to relentlessly champion his fretboard prowess to everyone I meet when it comes to talking guitars and music. SRV could play anything and with more natural accuracy and energy than anyone else I ever heard or seen. Sadly, hardly anyone has heard of the great man over here, but I have recently made sure that there's plenty of Stevie on the jukebox at our local bar.

Twenty-two years ago on my birthday  :bluesad:

We saw him play in Minneapolis just a few weeks before his death.  That was an awesome show.  I think the Dixie Dregs with Steve Morse opened up for him.  An unforgettable experience, probably the best concert I've ever been to.  And I LOVED Couldn't Stand The Weather, that album is some of the best blues (IMO) anywhere.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

Thank you, CC.  I'm great on years, but I always think 1989 with STEVIE, I don't know why, and of course it's 1990.  I  think I was in shock that terrible day.
Jack, that happens sometimes.

I remember feeling tremendously fortunate to have seen STEVIE live.  I have also seen ERIC CLAPTON (when he toured with MARK KNOPFLER).   No other guitarists I've had the pleasure (or not) of seeing come even close to those two shows.

I wish I had been able to see him just once....he was awesome! One of Texas' great native musicians.

Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.
