At first, I thought this guy was full of s**t.  But then I thought about it, because I used to be a teacher.  Were I in his position, I probably would have taken the beating.  There's no way you can defend yourself against a violent kid and not get in all kinds of legal trouble.  On top of that, he would likely lose his job and become blacklisted from ever teaching again*.

*Yeah, I'm calling bulls**t on myself.  It's debatable, though not unreasonable, to assume that he would be blacklisted.  One of my high school teachers was "reassigned" to our school because of an "incident" involving a student that was sexual in nature.  No big surprise that they later find child pornography on his computer and hauled his ass to prison.  That leads me to believe that the aforementioned incident was probably a big deal, and if so then why wasn't the guy outright canned and blacklisted?  Makes you wonder.

Restraining a violent kid is exceedingly difficult, because you're trying not to hurt them and they are fighting with everything they've got. Not only are you holding back to avoid hurting them, but you're also yielding so they don't hurt themselves.

If this teacher was a bully, with no concern for the safety of his students or the consequences of his actions, then yeah, he'd have ended that fight pretty quickly. As it was, he couldn't use his advantage.

I'm pretty disgusted about the way this story is presented. Not just the misleading headline and the slant of the story, but that somebody thought it would be cute to put this psycho kid in a tough guy pose. Yeah, let's send the message that he's an adorable scrappy little tyke, and his teacher is some kind of a whiny wimp for trying to do his job. No wonder some kids are as messed up as they are.

The teacher was in a no win situation: either he gets labeled a monster to attacking the kid while trying to subdue him or he gets the crap beat out of him.

This is sad and disgusting.....if I was that brat's parents he would be in such trouble! Teachers put up with way too much junk as it is without being physically abused by a student. And the pose the kid was in...that just plain ticks me off! Too many commercials,tv shows and movies have glorified the disrespect of adults by children and how funny it is. I'm so sick of it!  :hatred:
Yes,I'm fine....as long as I don't look too closely.
