It was good enough.  I don't think it will change a lot of people's minds about video game movies, but I think it did more right then wrong.  I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

This movie follows more closely to the recent rebooted Tomb Raider series, so some people will be disappointed if their fans of the classic busty, more over the top Lara Croft.

Alicia Vikander, whom many might remember from the sci-fi sleeper hit Ex-Machina plays the title heroine.  This is an origin story that sees Lara travel to a hidden island to find out what happened to her missing father, as well as stopping an illuminati-style organization from getting the power of a Japanese death sorceresses.

The acting is good, with some cameoes by certain character actors.  I did like that Lara was not the unstoppable force that so many others might have made her into.  We see her struggle, lose, make some bad decisions, and has an arch to her growth.

They do a few twisted on the classic buried cursed monster which some people might like.

If I'd have to give it a letter grade-I think I'd give it a B-,  just just a point above a C+.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

I'm not interested personally.  As a movie it just looks too generic.

Also, I prefer the older bustier more over the top Lara.

I believe this was shot in South Africa: not 100% sure.
I know I can make it on my own if I try, but I'm searching for the Great Heart
To stand me by, underneath the African sky
A Great Heart to stand me by.
