I saw the title in the new releases list a while back and figured it was just another SHARKNADO-style piece of crap. But an AV Club reviewer says it "It has 'cult classic' written all over it." (https://film.avclub.com/how-can-you-not-check-out-a-movie-called-the-velocipast-1837383938)

I'm not 100% convinced, but someone here should check it out and report back.

When a movie tries very hard to become a cult classic, it's because it missed the whole point of it.

Yeah, I agree that's generally true and why I can't stand most Troma movies or the SHARKNADOs. Still, every now and then one of the self-aware "cult" movies works for me.

I've had this one on my radar for awhile, but I don't know if it is out yet or not.

It was released on DVD and VOD 2 weeks ago.

Awesome!  Maybe Amazon Prime has it . . .

So I guess I was the one to bite the bullet...

It's OK, but honestly the AV Club guy was really overselling it. If you watched the clips, those were all the best parts. The jokes were groaners---pleasant enough and inoffensive (despite some gore gags). I chuckled out loud maybe once or twice. I still think no one has ever really mastered the deliberately bad movie comedy, but it was entertaining enough. There was a split screen love scene that was actually really well done. I'd give it 2.5/5, I'm sure there are those on here who would rate it higher and probably some who just couldn't stand it, too.
