This is the first look we've got of the new Velma series that's apparently been in the works for a while for HBO.

There's gore and there's nudity.  Apparently the show is NOT going to feature a dog or a van.

Velma is also now South Asian just like the creator of the new show in a move that I'm sure has to be 100% coincidence.

So, yeah, I'm going to avoid this completely.  How about you guys?

I mean, I'm all for gore and nudity, but I don't need it in my Scooby Doo series.  I'd much rather actually have SCOOBY DOO.

Wide pass from me. Do the creators think anyone will watch this 💩?
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

It feels weird enough looking risqué at Daphne & Velma cosplayers.

Just "ONE" member of the Mystery Gang?

I don't know how it's supposed to work.  It's specifically a VELMA show, but they said "we have our four key characters through a different lens," whatever that's supposed to mean.

Still though... no Scooby?

I've liked some of Mindy Kaling's work.  I think she can be funny when paired with the right people.  Something tells me this might be a Godzilla 98 type situation.  It might be decent in its own right and should have been its own original IP ,as an adaptation-it'll suck.

I'll be  willing to give it a try.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

I think Kaling can be brilliant, she did great work on the Office as a writer, actor, producer AND director.  But something about her kind of rubs me the wrong way after that.  It's hard to pin down, but it's made me avoid watching much after the Office with her.  Like, she's too much on her own especially.

But, just as a voice?  Probably fine.

That said, this seems like a potentially decent series idea, but not a good idea for an adaptation.  Just make your own IP.

There's a trailer out now, and it's a mean spirited attack on people that have criticized the show.

Also, Shaggy is black now and not called "Shaggy" and Daphne is Asian.

In even worse news...  There's no van.
AND in even worse than that news... they've announced the series has no talking dog.

So, I'm kind of left wondering, what's the point?

In the new film Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!, Velma comes out as a lesbian....
Makes me wonder how many we need....

And when is Shaggy gonna come out as a pot head?
