New review time at the old Graveyard! This time around it's a look at a forgotten 80's pseudo slasher, The Forest. Why pseudo? Well, there are no naked chicks, little gore and no spring loaded cats...all the staples of a standard slasher. Plus the killer gets more development than the rest of the cast combined! This one tries to be more psychological, but just ends up being boring as all hell.

Oh, what is it about you ask? About 20 minutes too long! HA! Seriously, it's about two couples that encounter a crazy killer and numerous ghosts when they decide to go camping in the woods. Then again, doesn't everyone?

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

I have had an interest in seeing this one for a while.

On the surface, I think that the basic plot had some promise.  It was executing it that completely flubbed the effect.  Looking at some of the key elements makes me interested in the film.  This guy kills his cheating wife, who also spurns giving attention to their children to satisfy her own adulterous desires.  Then, fleeing with his children into the woods, he tries to survive in the only place he knows that nobody will take his children away.

Something I did not notice in the review, but could have made his heck-bent-for-campers eating fest make sense is if the kids died of malnutrition.  Maybe he tried to have them only survive on tree bark soup and they died.  Also, the idea that the mother's ghost hangs around, maybe in hopes of gaining absolution from her children and her husband, is an idea worth working with.

Good review.  I did chuckle at the bit about the killer's bent on eating campers, same with the huge saw being as easy to use as a sofa to kill someone.

Great stuff Shadow. I really dig those little MST3K-ish images in your "Commentary" section too.  :teddyr:

And look at this! You're doing "Monster on the Campus" next! I really enjoyed that old schlocker, and I'm sure you will too. I guess I can look forward to that review in what, July?  Just joshin' ya buddy, I have no room to talk. :teddyr: Later man.
