The Burgomaster

A guy my wife knows made this movie.  Apparently, he rented a local theater and will be showing it one night in November.  He is also looking around for other theaters to rent.  My wife and I are going to see it (against my better judgment).  This looks like the movies that ended up in Mill Creek's Tomb of Terrors and Decrepit Crypt of Nightmares 50 movie packs.  Get a load of the promo video of the "fans" who can't wait to see this movie (coincidentally, some of them share the same last name as the filmmaker . . . I call shenanigans!)  These videos make me want to AVOID this movie.

Amateur actors in baseball caps talking a lot in cheap locations? Count me in!

I don't think anyone got paid for doing this.  He set up a website before production started asking for volunteer actors and production crew.  I assume everyone involved was a volunteer.

I see some signs, packaged goods, greeting cards, books, etc. in the background of some scenes.  Wouldn't they need to get permission to use those?

It reminds me of the trailers on Alpha Home Video's DVDs.  Looks dull; Sound is bad; exterior scenes look better than interior scenes.  Still, I've never made a movie, so why should I judge?

Technically yes, but no one is likely to see it or care.

I've never made a movie because I realize I don't have the resources I'd need to make something I could be proud of. If someone wants to make something like this for fun, for themselves and their friends, more power to them. But, if they put it out for the general public to see, they have to expect that people will judge it.

I'd settle for something I'm not completely ashamed of.
