Two thoughts that I hadn't posted before.

One is concerned with Peter's mom dying of cancer.  Is it possible that Peter's father was the reason she had cancer?  He was some sort of alien.  Maybe he is radioactive. Perhaps conceiving Peter is what doomed the mother.  Egad, but that is dark.

Two is that I was reminded of The Chronicles of Riddick for a few reasons. One being the sojourn to the prison, and the second being the overall feel or style of the film and technology.

Interesting theory.  *Mild Spider-Man: Reign comic spoiler *

It has been done in a comic before, in a non-canonical Spiderman comic and Mary-Jane.  Spiderman's bodily fluids are said to be radioactive, and that did in Mary-Jane with cancer (Spiderman is old in the comics, Mary Jane has been dead for years).

**end**

However, considering the tone of Guardians, I don't think that's where they'll take it.

So, I finally got to see this today.

It's fantastic.

"The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell."

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.
It's where my demons hide, it's where my demons hide.

Agreed entirely: it is everything that Avengers Age Of Ultron tried to be. For me, GOTG worked and AAOU didn't.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
May 5, 2017

All of the major characters that survived vol. 1 will be back with the addition of . . .

Sam Gunn . . . Kraglin
Pam Klementieff . . . Mantis

Groot, having grown from a twiglet, is now a teenager with a vocabulary larger than "I am Groot."

And while the parts have yet to be cast . . .?! Rumor has it that . . .

Adam Warlock will be Peter's father and will be played by Al Pacino.

Also appearing . . .

Howard the Duck
and Beta Ray Bill.

And well see what we'll see.
