Much of A Nightmare on Elm Street (the original one, not the remake).

The entire Wizard of Freaking Oz. Terrifying flick passed off as a charming kids' movie.

Oh man, fer sure. My Father (rest his soul) would refuse to watch it w/ my Mom and I, every year of my childhood, back when it would air once annually and most Americans seemed to tune in dutifully. He claimed to be afraid of the flying monkeys; I generally suspected he was makin' that up and just didn't dig on the film. Now as an adult who is afraid of many, many cinematic monkeys (human-sized and larger), I sympathize and/or empathize.
