Anyone watching Sci Fi Channel Wednesdays? They have 3 neat shows starting at 8 pm to 11 pm.

Proof Positive - They have three parts to this show dealing with UFO's, Monsters, Paranormal Activities of all sorts. They have all the evidence studied and determine at the end of the show which story is backed up by proof.

Ghost Hunters - Plumbers by day and Ghost Hunters by night. These plumbers started their own Ghost Hunting business  called TAPS in Rhode Island. TheY use all types of electronic gadgets to measure activity like "white noise" and such. Good show.

Scar Tactics - Most of us have seen this show before, but now they have a new season and it just gets better every year.

Anyone catching any of these this year?

I watch the Ghost Hunters show. I'm real into this kind of thing and enjoy the show quite a bit. I have to wonder how much is embellished because it's on the SciFi channel but I still watch it and have a good time doing so.

Hey are they wounding people on that Scar Tactics show?

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

Proof Positive sounds like a variation on that Fox show (that SciFi reruns during the day at times) with Jonathan Frakes where they presented you with several urban legend type tales and you had to guess which were real and which were fake. Or is there more to it that I'm missing?

Ghost Hunters doesn't sound like my cup of tea at all, a reality show about guys who hunt for "ghosts". Do they ever "find" any evidence of the ghosts, by paranormal research standards at least? Since I don't believe in paranormal phenomena like ghosts or astral projection, and have a hard time taking shows about them seriously, I'll probably give it a pass.

I was never a fan of "Scare Tactics" (or prank shows in general), so bringing in Stephen Baldwin to replace pathalogical show quitter Shannon Doherty doesn't do anything for me. I've seen him in interviews plugging the show, talking about "bringing the 'Stevie B' touch" to the show. Between saying that and those annoyuing commercials for the show that SciFi airs constantly, he's not just the least talented Baldwin, but also the lamest (which is actually hard to be considering that family).

I guess a show like "Mythbusters", which comes on the same night, is more my speed. I like their mix of exploring urban legends and blowing things up. Plus some of the female "Myth-terns" who help them on projects are cute. Psuedo-science, explosions, and babes - I can be entertained and pretend to being learning something at the same time.

I watched the first episode of Proof Positive, thought it was kind of funny.  Bugs look blurry when you videotape them and then look at the tape frame by frame.  But maybe they're not bugs (even though it's entirely obvious they are), but instead...a new lifeform?  It was just silly and I'm not interested in seeing it again.  The girl from Stargate looks really nice all dolled up and out of uniform though.

Scare Tactics - not my kind of show at all.  I watched a few episodes just because Shannen Doherty was on it.  Now that what's-his-face is the host, forget it.

Never watched the plummer / ghost buster dudes.

I watched part of the Ghost Hunters one night and it felt too much like American Chopper (they advertise it as being by the same producers).  They have the hard case guy that rides everyone else's ass all the time.  This is too distracting, show me the ghosts!

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

On GHOST HUNTERS  Yaddo they have only caught those orbs, but no images of recognizable people and the audio responses from the questions ask toward spirits. I enjoy watching this show.

SCARE TACTICS is one of my favorite of the three. It's kinda like a modern day CANDID CAMERA with some Horror film senarios.

POSITIVE PROOF is three seperate subjects in one show and they just judge what that feel is more authentic based on so called scientific people in labs and such who would supposeably be able to tell us the truth. This show is my least favorite of the three as one of the three usually isn't that interesting.

All good entertainment imho. Love that wacky stuff and/or any good story. We have had discussions on this board before about the "reality shows" and nobody seems to like them on this board. Once in a while someone will say something favorable about them like odinn7.  Thanks for the imput anyway people. : )

I watched part of scare tactics a couple of times.  The acting in porn flicks is better.  (And I want to apologize to the porn stars for that.)  And can they not use a camera guy with a big, shoulder mounted camera right in the room where the weird thing is supposed to be happening?  Get hidden cameras at least.

Ghost Hunters is good fun, although I prefer the ghost specials they show on the Discovery Channel around Halloween. They seem to disprove or at least cast considerable doubt on most of their cases, attempting to reproduce the visual/aural phenomena with their own equipment (checking to see if a "ghost" could have been a result of their UV light or the headlights of a passing van) before claiming they've found a ghost. It's apparently doing well, so here's hoping we'll have our ghost/reality fix for another season or two. I don't care much for the other two shows. Proof Positive is a sort of combination Beyond Belief / Sightings, with a much less entertaining host than either one. Scare Tactics is decent filler, but there's not much point to actually looking at the TV without Shannon Doherty.

Scott

yea, but those reactions are real responses to really way out situations that nobody would anticipate in normal life and then they themselves aren't against  the show as they allow the channel to air their naturally candid responses (for a few bucks I'm sure.).

I was going to check them out, but every time Wed. rolls around, I seem to forget about them.

Personally, I think I'd like Scare Tactics better if they showed the behind the scenes stuff rather than badly acted scenes showing what the victim is supposed to believe is happening. Adding those scenes just makes it seem like the whole thing is faked.

Scott

Oh the evidence from POSITIVE PROOF is examined by a forensic type test. At least that is what they the shows mentions.
