A TOWN CALLED HELL (1971) - This Spain/England co-production starts off really great with the first 20 minutes or so with Telly Savalas as the boss of this Mexican desert town that sits on top of a ridge. They shoot Savalas in the first half of the film and put him up on a pole and then we never see him again. The rest of the film is rather bland except the hangings. They spent the rest of the film trying to find a revolutionary named Aguila. This film also stars Robert Shaw, Martin Landau, Stella Stevens, and Fernando Rey. The film has a great look and some good action. The story could have been good, but some how they didn't make it work.

Finally found a copy of this Telly Savalas film called A TOWN CALLED HELL  and now must find LAND RAIDERS

Start looking for Robert Woods' Spaghetti Westerns, if you like obscure examples of the genre.
He made about a dozen, with Robert Ireland & Lee Van Cleef & others around at the time.
"7 Guns for the MacGregors" is great:  7 kilt-clad/bagpipe playin' sons o' Scotland slingin' firearms all abooot !!

Peter Johnson if I could find or view the 7 GUNS FOR THE MACGREGORS I would. Have only found the music to the film.

Wonder why they didn't use Telly Savalas as the main character in A TOWN CALLED HELL? Was it money or they didn't think Savalas could draw as the main character? He's in the film for about 15-20 great minutes, then the film kinda falls apart.
