I took my family out to eat last night and then for ice cream after. There was an Electronics Boutique up the way, and I decided to drop in. I never go into these places since I do not own a gaming system, just a computer. Still, I went in and saw that they had a few used DVDs with a "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" sale. Most were the usual tripe I find around here: the $5.50 movies from Wal-Mart people buy and sell to places like this that then price them at $9.99 (and the shopping center I was at is even in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart). Anyway, I was going through the stacks, and, lo and behold, there was a copy of Meet the Feebles for only $5.99! I've seen the movie only once, on VHS, a couple of years ago. I'd talked about it with my brother-in-law who absolutely loves the movie, so if I want to, I could sell it to him for a profit, but I think I'll keep it and taunt him with it.
Then, while I was checking out, I started talking to the cashier about it. She had almost bought it but was afraid her kids would watch it thinking it was just a puppet movie. That led to discussions of Bad Taste, which I'm not a huge fan of (it's okay, just not really my bag) and Dead Alive, one of my favorites. She hadn't seen either, so I convinced her she really needed to see Dead Alive if she enjoyed twisted humor and tons of gore.
Sorry for the rambling post; I just don't often meet anyone in this area who enjoys movies of this type, and to find a classic sicko flick like Feebles and then also get to talk to someone about it for a bit was just kind of cool for me.
I'll try to post a review of Meet the Feebles in the next week or so, depending on when I get to watch it and refresh my memory. Has anyone here got the DVD? Is the transfer okay? I only ask because the VHS I rented a couple of years ago was very dark and hard to watch.
