From the trailer this looks like it will be real hoot. It was made by James Gunn (Dawn of the Dead remake).

The website has a contest called Slug It Out, where you make your own TV spot for the movie (using Flash) and the best one wins 25 grand.

Man, I can't wait for this one.  Gunn wrote and directed it, and it looks to have all the Troma charm of his earlier films.  Not only that, but it has Nathan Fillion as the main hero, and Michael Rooker as the baddie.  It looks gory and funny as hell.  I hope it'll be as good as Night Of The Creeps which is seems to have taken a lot of inspiration from.

Hmmmm . . . it certainly looks a lot different than the James Caan road comedy from the 1970s . . .

For some reason when I saw the commercial, I thought it was a remake. Now that you mention 'Night Of The Creeps', that's probably why. Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker are pretty cool; maybe I'll rent it when it comes out on DVD.

I'm confused about one thing: is it, or is it not a zombie movie?

Do the guys that get infected by the worms get turned into zombies?

That's the one thing I'm dying to know.

Then why did imdb listed it as a zombie movie?

The tv add says it has everything; giant slugs, zombies, and apparently some people are mutated by the effects. It also appears to be very tongue-in-cheek and from an early review I read it pays homage to a quite a few genre classics.

The people who made it are full of themselves.

The trailer I saw for the movies was basically this: the named all the great horror classics from the '60s till now, and then they said: "You know what all those movies have in common? THEY ARE ALL FOR PUSSIES! This the the REAL horror classic! The greatest horror movie in the history of cinema! No movie will scaare you or shock you like this one! It's the Elvis of horror movies!".

And movies that get too full of themselves always fall short of expectations.

Except for the advertisment that plan9 mentioned, this sounds good.

Man, I was dying of laughter when I first saw that trailer.  I have nothing but faith in James Gunn's ability to make this a hell of a horror film.  I mean, this guy wrote Tromeo And Juliet before knowing how to even write a screenplay.  The man is a great fan of horror and the Dawn Of The Dead remake is a good enough example of that.  This film will rock, and will rock HARD.

I'm telling you, movies that hail themselves as the greatest ever even before threy are released usually tend to be crap.

Remember how overhyped "King Kong", "Star Wrs: Episode I" and "Hulk" were?

I've only seen part of one of the commercials, but not the one you mention above. Maybe it was a joke? Sounds like it to me!

Yeah, I thought of "Night of The Creeps" too. It has an imaginitive edge to it that will make it better than average, but then I'm not as fond of gory movies as some... to date, John Carpenter's "The Thing" remake is the only gory movie I've seen more than twice. I hate gore played for laughs.
