First of all, let me say that I don't EVER want you to watch this movie. Please, do me this ONE favor.
This is one of the movies in the CHILLING CLASSICS 50 MOVIE PACK that doesn't belong there. It isn't a chiller, thriller, horror movie or anthing else that would fit in with the theme of this boxed set. It is a re-titled piece of crap (the original title was SUNBURST) that was written by James Keach (who is also one of the co-stars).
I knew I was in trouble right from the opening credits: the title SLASHED DREAMS is electronically superimposed inside a big square that covers the original title of the movie. Aha, the irritating, "let's replace the original, dull title with a cheat title that will hopefully make people want to see this movie" trick. And I fell for it again!
Here is the plot: a young couple go hiking in the woods to visit their friend (Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund) who lives in a cabin and drinks herbal tea. Along the way, the woman is raped by 2 guys (one of them is James Keach). Then she, her boyfriend, and Englund must pull together and show each other how much they love and care for one another so that the woman can deal with her trauma, put it behind her, and live a happy, productive life.
So, in a nutshell, what starts out as a cross between DELIVERANCE and THE BRADY BUNCH (dig the groovy clothes and 1970s slang . . . far out, man!) turns into a candidate for the LIFETIME channel. SUNBURST was definitely a more accurate title than SLASHED DREAMS.
I have been tricked again. But this dirty "B-movie" life is the life I have chosen, so I will hold my head high and venture forth BOLDLY to watch more bad movies. But I will do so with good Karma, because I WARNED YOU ABOUT THIS ONE!
