This is pretty unique addition to most people's cd collection I would think.  it's the soundtrack to the original film.  The liner notes explain that the composer was given an unusual degree of creative freedom.  It's pretty cool if you ask me.  The orchestra must have been dumbfounded at the stuff they were being asked to play, or maybe they were used to it.   Features prominent use of the theremin (you'll know it when you hear it) great for mix tapes!!! Some of it is actually rather calm, but then the aliens come and crash crash crash

Oh,yeah. Bernard Harriman was a genius! I love that sound track. Best use of a Theremin, too. I still plan to buy a Theremin....if nothing else, it'll make for a great way to get rid of unwanted visitors. Jehova's Witness : What's that sound!? You : What sound? Hehehe........

If you use to know musical software, I suggest you to try the generic softsynth REAKTOR (by Native Instruments). In the library of the builded synth of this software, there is a theremin, and it sounds really great.
