You are a cruel, cruel bastard Foy, a cruel, cruel bastard.

But that being said, I didn't actually mind the idea of an online virus signal-type movie, there's potential there for some interesting moments, though of course remaking that theme into Videodrome 'The Special Collector's Edition Remake' is enough to make you want to grow your own flesh-gun-'pouch' just so you could off yourself in anger.

I actually have a funny GYMKATA story.

I worked in a video rental store back in the 1980s.  The manager was a woman around 24 years old who knew NOTHING about movies.  I think the only reason that she got hired as the manager is because she was attractive.  She certainly wasn't any good at managing the store.  Anyway, one day she was preparing a list of movies to purchase for the store.  One of the movies on the list was:

"Jim Carter"

After a brief discussion, we found out that she meant "Gymkata."

Eventually, she got fired.

I hate you.  My GF was all OMG!  when she saw the title.  she's a big Gymkata fan, especially the scenes where people are getting dropped on the same boulder everytime and yet there is never a build-up of bodies...

I was not going for something so grand as a full article this year, just thought a single post would be amusing.  A big sorry to Shadowphile, though I can imagine this will get released on DVD.  I doubt we would get much in the way of extras.  The scary thing is, I would buy it.

Slashdot almost drove me stark, raving mad yesterday.  Talk about taking a joke and smashing it in your face over and over.  The color scheme they had going on at first was really freaking annoying.

Yeah, he's been doing that for years.  I thought a few joke articles mixed in with the real stuff would be funny and might catch some people, but *every* year *every article is a fake and they aren't nearly as funny or clever any more, so I just don't bother anymore.  It's no longer "April Fool", just "April Stupid"

I think that they might have, if this is possible, overdone it more this year than others I remember.  That could just be the relative temporal nearness communication orally.

I agree.  while he's done this every year, this year went really silly about it.  The pink color scheme and some of the stories were just...I mean it's clever if you can come up with stories that are *almost* believeable, but with a humorous edge or twist, and sucker a few people into buying it and maybe a few people debating the "what if it was real...", but this year was just...I don't know...not even close to being fun

On a bit of a seperate note, did anyone else catch ThinkGeek's april fools joke?

http://www.thinkgeek.com

They actually got me with the wireless extension cords.  That's something I've been speculating over for years now, and freaked when I saw they were for sale.  Sadly though, it was a hoax.

Andrew you got me on that one. I was saying to myself "GYMKATA is getting a 2 DVD Special Edition?" and think why? : ) I remember when it first came on pay TV and how strangely dull it was at the time. I should watch this one again someday. I don't think I ever finished GYMKATA.
