More like the night of an ape faced man in pajamas.  It's one of the better pajama movies.  I love pj's, got like 9 or ten pairs.  A little bit of nudity and some rather cheap gore place this in possibly the late 60's early 70's.  The wrestling places it in Mexico.  A little more dialogue than necasary in places.  Not for the hardcore horror afficianados, but those into campier fare will be tickled pink.  great halloween costume potential between the wrestlers and the ape-guy.

If you like Night of the Bloody Apes, you'll crap 'em laughing at Doctor of Doom. Part of that Godawful dubbed Wrestling Women Versus series, directed by Rene Cardona, it would later be remade as...Night of the Bloody Apes. Circle of life!

In fact, I stopped just now to look it up on the IMDb (http://us.imdb.com/Details?0056201) and the current video release is titled (Rock n'Roll) Wrestling Women Versus The Aztec Ape. Gyeeeeeee! Unfortunately, the version titled Rock n'Roll... has a reworked music score. It's not an "Aztec" ape, they just wanted to capitalize on the "Aztec Mummy" sequel which is far better known.

Anyway, a pair of wrestling women get involved with two idiot cops investigating the disappearances of women. That's right, they're being kidnapped by a mad scientist who is trying to switch human and gorilla brains for some reason. When one of the wrestling women scars the madman's face with acid during her escape--you knew the ladies would become targets, of course--he plans revenge: kidnapping one of her competitors, he puts his pet gorilla's brain in her head, and sends her/him/it out the day after its brain transplant to kill her in the ring. Both she/he/it and the mad doc are wearing those wiggy wrestling masks. Will our heroines survive?

I saw that.  It was funny, but the new music really stood out like a sore thumb
