We're all just victims of circumstance

Okay, I thought I was gonna fall out of my chair when Denny plugged his therapist (Peter MacNicol) the second time, while in court.

Shatner rules!

Looks like next week we get to meet the Poole in Crane, Poole, and Schmidt. He looks crazier than Denny. I know the guy playing him, but can't remember his name. Seems like Larry something.

Ok, I know that 'Boston Legal' is a spin off of 'The Practice'  (which I didn't like at all). Is it really that good? So far I haven't like anything David E. Kelley has done.

Shatner and Spader make the show hilarious. Of course there is a lot of preachy social commentary, but that is trumped by Denny Crane.

Shatner will now be remembered as two unforgettable characters, Kirk and Crane.

LH-C,

I'm with Trek.  I never liked The Practice, and I never liked Boston Public and such.  Boston Legal is just a great show all around, especially due to Spader, The Shat, and Bergen.  Really worth watching.

I was just going to say something about that - I mean 'Hooker' ran for 5 seasons!

But ultimately, so what?
Crane is one bats**t crazy mufu -- If you haven't watched the show, then you really don't know whereof we speak --
Think of an ancient Hunter S. Thompson/Samuel L. Johnson figure, but with more arrogance and more random violence.
Denny thinks he's God's gift to women and the world, yet is aware that he is drifting slowly into demetia praecox -- probably Alzheimer's, though he insists it's Mad Cow --
He does, however, continue to win law cases in spite of himself, and because of himself when he experiences moments of lucidity.
Everyone around him is aware he's going mad as well -- especially his law partners.  James Spader's character finds this fascinating at first, but ultimately has allowed himself to love Denny and will be genuinely hurt when the inevitable Gotterdammerung occurs.
I can't watch it these days, as I'm getting up so early for my day job, so missed the latest shooting -- darn it . . .

Here's the rundown on the return of Edwin Poole:

BOSTON LEGAL - "Deep End of the Poole" - Edwin Poole (Larry Miller), a partner in the law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt, returns to work after a stint at a mental institution. But Shirley Schmidt wonders if he should have been released when he decides to help an obese computer technician sue a junk food manufacturer for causing his diabetes. Denny Crane represents Alan Shore, after Shore is arrested for advising a client accused of attempted murder to flee the county. Meanwhile, after their unexpected rendezvous, Brad Chase wants to explore the possibility of a relationship with Denise Bauer.
