I know where my towel is.

WWW
« on: May 26, 2006, 06:24:25 PM »

Well, with being in California the last few days I have done some serious updating.  I was doing my PT in the morning, before reporting for duty, so the evenings were pretty much empty.  No giving my children their baths, reading, or playing with blocks or crayons.  Missing the family, but with nothing else to do I went crazy doing all that stuff I have been wanting to.

First off, the mailing list is active again.  Not intending that to be a discussion forum, so I established it as a way of sending out a newsletter when the site is updated or something important happens.  It is set that only I can send email to the members.  I probably should have asked everyone if they would find a newsletter useful first.

I went through all of the reviews (ones written by me, not reader reviews yet) and fixed a lot of formatting and made sure they had one video clip each.  Some still had two.  Also updated all the Amazon and Movies Unlimited links for the reviews.  That was really out of whack.

Updated the News section. I am going to try and keep this up from now on.

I attacked the links and have dumped or updated a large number of them over the past two weeks.  There were a lot of changes.  I must have removed and updated about fifty links.  Some I removed as they no longer link back, but a great number were due to the sites being gone.  Scary how much comes and goes on the Web.

Started the Legion of Muck award again and The Rogue Reviewers (as a whole) are my choice for the first award in about two and a half years.  Definitely check out their ezine at http://www.roguecinema.com if you have not seen it.

And, the t-shirt designs are now available from Cafepress.com.  I am going to order some myself, so that I can check out the quality.  I wish they had it so you could put a design on the back of the black t-shirts.  Apparently those are new, so maybe that feature is coming.

Man I wanted one of those shirts for my sixteenth birthday, I was very disapointed when my brother couldn't get one.

Oh well, two years late is better than never.

I have used Cafe Press before and the shirts were pretty decent. Black is new and I believe it is still in the try out stage. I got grey and designs were allowed on both sides on those. It makes sense that it will be available on black shirts some time soon.

Thanks for all the information Andrew.

Great to hear about the updates Andrew.  How about giving us some new "Random Thoughts" sometime soon.  Those used to keep me laughing for hours.

Let us know when they do the double sided black shirts.  I'm not a fan of white shirts (stains and such) and I'll definently buy a new "things I learned" black shirt.  Keep up the good work!

I should be updating with some new random thoughts too.  Planning on adding one with the next review.  I need to update the mailbag too.  That has been years since I rotated some stuff and there have been plenty of notable emails since then.

Thinking that it is about time I did another interview.  Looking through my leads, I might have to chase ones down on either Sybil Danning or Robbie Lee (from "Switchblade Sisters").  Either of those should be interesting.

I did put in one of the ash gray shirts and am sorry to Dave about the issue before.  The problem was that, using a local shop to have them made, I put up about $800 (if memory serves) to get the batch made.  Then the larger sizes took forever to slowly go away.  Heck, I still have some XXLs sitting in a sealed rubbermaid container at home.  I would like to do that again, but will see how the CafePress stuff turns out and if they start allowing for double sided black shirts.

I wasn't aware you had white shirts for sale.  I'll have to pick one up now.

Perhaps a "What's New" section might be helpful.  Especially if you are going to be updating things like News and Random Thoughts.  Or at least one of those flashing buttons that says "New!" next to the updated link.  Might take some of the guesswork out of perusing the site.

Sybil Danning, eh? I have some bones to pick with her. Something along the lines of Panther Squad (1984). My mind is still suffering from the recoil that movie kicked to my brain. Make sure you ask her lots of questions about all those Women in Prison films she did too. Good stuff.

Badmovies:  Your Home Away From Home . . .
Thanks for all the update work.  Didn't realise T-shirts could be such a pain.  I treasure my original black T more than ever now --
I wore it all over Scotland and Germany this past October, and out for my 50th birthday.  It never fails to get comments --  My favorite part is to be sitting in a pub, and forgetting what I have on, and then suddenly from behind me comes the noise of beer snorting out of someone's nose, followed by choking laughs.  It's usually the "stuff glued to lizard" line that puts them over the edge -- something about bad dinosaurs speaks to a Universal truth . . .

I was wearing mine on the flight back from California today.  Leaving the plane at JFK, one of the flight attendants stopped me, because she had to read the shirt.  The whole flight crew was chuckling.  It is a good day when I can give someone a laugh.

My one shirt and my Badmovies.org hat have rain, dirt, and sand from all over the world on them.  Pretty amusing when you think about it.

This section, linked from the front page, always has the latest updates:

New Attractions

If you scroll down it gives a complete list of recent updates by date.  Maybe I should link this via the site's bottom navigator?  Replace the mailing list link on the menu with a link to it that says "What's New" to help people quickly locate the new content?

Ah.  I checked that page but neglected to scroll down past the movie reviews.  I stand corrected.

How many people use the mailing list as opposed to how many read the site?  I like the mailing list, but I'm here everyday anyway.  I think as long as the "What's New/Coming Attractions" page is up (and now I know where it is), you should have all your bases covered.

Andrew, on behalf of the Rogues, I thank you for the honor bestowed upon us in the form of  The Legion of Muck award. It's great to be the first ones to receive the award after it's long hiatus.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Thanks to yourself and the other rogues for all the hard work.  Your group has been putting in a lot of effort over a sustained period.  I should have got off my butt and started trying harder to spread the word about your sites a long time ago.

I am pretty sure Rogue Reviewer individual sites will be the next several Legion of Muck winners, though Atomic Monsters is a fun little site as well and will probably sneak in there too.  It would take a huge amount of work in a short period for any other sites I know of to reach the level you all are maintaining.
