Ok bear with me here cause this one is very vague in my memory. It was a hillariously campy sci-fi that seemed like it might have been more than one movie spliced together. It had the worst space walking sequence I have ever scene, complete with high pitched computerized music....the astronaut is laughing in zero gravity. I don't know why he was laughing. Also they land on an asteroid and get ambushed by these coneheaded alien mummies. The ambush is seen on a viewscreen at the earth base. Then the aliens attack earth and are fended off by some kind of earth defense system, which doesn't really work. Earth ends up calling in this renegade guy to battle the aliens. He was either retired or some kind of ex-military type, maybe he was just on vacation, I don't know. I also vaguely remember a telepathic boy with curly blonde hair. And some kind of plot element involving the aliens diguising themselves as humans. Parts of the movie seemed like they were from the 60's and parts of it from the 70's.  Does anybody know? I've been trying to figure out what this movie was for years! Maybe I'm just out of my mind.

Sounds like you could be thinking of an episode of Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot.
