All you informed somebodies out there have probably heard about this wild and crazy event that kicks off across the United States in over twenty cities for one action packed weekend. Yes, it's the 48 Hour Film Project and yes I have entered. Why is this cool? Let me tell you:
You and your team of cast and crew are given a genre, an object, a character and a phrase at 6:45pm Friday evening and are given 48 hours to write, produce, direct, shoot, edit, and author a 4-7 minutes long short film using the given criteria.
Your film will then be screened and judged alongside the films of other teams in your citiy's competition and a winner will be announced. That winner will go into competition with the winners of other cities around the country and be eligible for some cool prizes. Along with bragging rights and a seriously cool film at the end of it all, you might also get United State-wide recognition if you win (that's what I'm going for).
Everything has to be done within the 48 hours from when they give you the categories to make the film. You can secure locations, equipment and cast and crew, but that's pretty much it. I'll be working with the cast and crew of the feature length film I made this spring as well as some extra actors and crew. Everyone is incredibly creative and so I don't think we'll have a problem coming up with some awesome ideas.
Check out the website. Here's a film that won the whole shebang.
