This is actually my favorite movie.  Thats right.. favorite.

It captures the 80s just the way I remembered them.  And who says Lea Thompson can't pull off the big hair??  I think its super sexy.. of course, anything 80s is sexy to me so, meh.

Brings back a lot of memories..

Oh, and the music!  20 years later and I'm still singing these songs.  >xD

It's one om my most favourite [childhood] movies besides "The Goonies" and "Mortal Kombat" (yeah I know, strange mix  TeddyR ). It creates this atmosphere of 80's which are my love (but not as strong as 90's hehe ) I hope that one day they'll release it on DVD ^^

As I was reading this topic I was reminded that Howard the Duck is a real funny movie, that I'm glad I saw for free on cable, and now I can't get the theme song out of my head and I'm having visions of Lea Thompson coming on to a midget in a duck suit, thanks guys. BounceGiggle

The main problem with this movie is the way they portrayed Howard. Little man in a suit didn't work. They changed the story up quite a bit from the comics.

Howard first appeared with Man-Thing and would go on to have his own series for Marvel. Howard's tag line was "Trapped in a world he never made". Howard was a wise-cracking, angry, cynical duck in a blue business suit and hat and Beverly his companion and lover was a extraordinarily beautiful fashion model (not a skinny wanna be rocker with big hair).

Disney came after Marvel in the late 70's because of his physical similarities to Donald the Duck. They changed Howards appearance and put pants on him in 1980. They also switched him over to a magazine format, so the writers didn't have to deal with the comics code.

Howard the Duck was a great satirical comic and was seriously demeaned by this movie.

If you didn't even know that Howard the Duck was a Marvel comic then check it out at Wikipedia.

There is also a Howard the Duck site that lists Badmovies.org as a source of review for the movie.

When it came out I thought it was one of the best movies id ever seen, I had no idea about the comics and still dont really.....its all about Jeff Jones asking Howard for the code key, infact that whole diner scene is one of the best in cinema history. And the music rocks.............How....wierd.

They should make a movie about the Dark overlords of the universe.

This is my favorite George Lucas flick.

Plus it has Lea Thompson in her panties.

And a duck.  And Ducks rule.

Now this is the kind of bad movie i love, Big budget bomds!. Man was this bad!. This should prove to Star Wars fans that not everything lucas touches turns to gold.

You can prove that by asking the fans about the prequel trilogy.

Saw this in a theater when I was only 11 back in 1986.  It was a friend of mine's birthday and his parents too all of us who came to his birthday party to see it.  I'll never forgive them to this date.

I still maintain that this is Lucas's best flick...EVER.

Takes me back to the day when I saw it too.  I was 8 and Joe Bob Briggs showed it on MonsterVision on TNT.

I would like to find some howard the duck movies for my two sons for christmas, One is in Iraq and the other in Korea and wont be home for christmas, these movies were one of there child hood memories and by god if I can make my boys laugh over in Iraq and Korea, then thats what I would love to give them for christmas. If there is any one who can help me find howard the duck movies exspecially, barfight or se-duck-tion that would be well appreciated.  there isnt alot of time before christmas but even if they got there alittle late, it be well worth it, just to know there was a smile upond thier faces when they open thier gift. looking for dvd if possible. please email me at deborah.karras@gmail.com  Thank you!

This was also sent via email:

I am afraid that "Howard the Duck" is currently out of print.  I am guessing that both movies you mention are the parts from the actual film.  Your best bet to find the movie is through Ebay.com or via the Amazon.com sellers.  It is only available on VHS (I have seen a LD of it as well - just no DVD release yet).
