This . . . this movie.  It was so bad.  But I just couldn't turn it off.  Why couldn't I turn it off?  My brain still hurts -- months later.

One good thing about this movie:  the ending credit music is quite soothing.  I give the makers credit for realizing that anyone who sat through this would need to be soothed.

I saw this flick at about two in the morning on the Sci-Fi Channel (ah, the good ol' SFC), and I thought it was quite good.  I mean, yeah, it's a bad movie, obviously, but I really liked it.  I have a strange affinity for lame 80's alien flicks.  This, Star Crystal (which I found in Suncoast for about five bucks and bought right away), Creature, and what have you.  They don't make 'em like this anymore.

This movie creeped me out. Really. Of course, that could be because I was watching it the deserted lobby outside the Emergency Ward of a hospital. There's nothing creepier than a deserted anything in a hopsital.

Anyway, I started watching the movie because I thought it was a "Space: 1999" rerun. At first this movie was a scream because Sandy was asking for help and when the gang went to help her...She Killed Them!

I regret, however, that I never got to see the Inseminoid.

This has to be the best 'Alien' rip-off ever, and its British!  Judy Geeson gives the performance of a lifetime as the hapless Sandy, God knows why she didn't get an Oscar.
The groovy 'futurist' electronic music (trés chic for 1980)
ROCKS!!!!
Also indispensible is director Norman J. Warren's earlier
aliens'n'lesbians epic 'Prey' (1977)

I can actually remember paying to see this piece of drek AT A THEATER. Back in the post-Star Wars I'll watch anything SCIFI phase. Back then, they couldn't release straight to video, so they had to actually SHOW this stuff, and pray suckers came and saw it. I remember seeing this, Planet of Terror (not nearly as bad, at least it had a plot), and that 3-D alien infection flick with the cool car (can't remember the name). All three times, I'm the only one in the theater. I will have to look for this one to add to my "god-awful" collection. Laser Blast needs company.

OK, I *think* I know what air-hose chick is trying to do. She's stuck and will freeze to death since her heater is broken, so she wants to cut herself free. If she ruptures her suit she'll have no air, so she put the airhose in her mouth.
Sure, there are problems with this (like it would take a looooong time for her to freeze in a vacuum. No, really, trust me), but it makes sense in a strange screenwriter-ripping-off-aliens-and-wanting-tension kinda' way

This is by no means a great film. It's not even a good film. But as far as rip-offs of major Hollywood movies go, I'm prepared to say that I've seen considerably worse. This one rips off ALIEN, but there is actually some style. The special effects are pretty good, and the British cast handles their basically unplayable roles rather well. Judy Geeson(of TO SIR, WITH LOVE fame) gives a much better performance than the circumstances warrant.

I've always loved this film, it has a genuine creepiness about it, it's very atmospheric. Director Norman J. Warren also did Alien Prey in 1977, but this is far supearior. Originally titled "Inseminoid", it was released by Cinema 5.

really lame rip-off of alien. plays like a lost episode of dr. who. this is not a compliment. if you're looking for a good low budget rip-off of alien...rent humanoids from the deep (1980) or galaxy of terror (1981). thanks.

This kind of movie has always driven me to drink! The only way its existence could be explained if the cast was dropped into some sci-fi set and said "lets make a monster/slasher/? movie" . Nice set fairly nice special affects (I thought they were ping pong balls myself) and absolutely no plot just events and random at that. After galaxy of terror..then forbidden world ..this one is just lame..

Watching this movie as I type on good ol' Showtime Beyond...although they call it "Inseminoid", as did the opening title card.  Still the same old "what the hell is this?" movie.  Hey, uh, why is it that this group of "planetary archaeologists" are the dumbest group of scientists that I've ever seen?  My brain hurts....

I read this book years ago when the film was first made, in my mind it was ok, quite a bit of sex(not just with the Alien). But having know purchased the DVD my nightmares haver come true, it stinks like something left out of the freezer. So much of it makes no sense(a bit like me buying the DVD).
In the book they find the aliens body and bring it into the centre where it rapes the unconciuos Sandy, not that her acting gets any better when she is not unconscious.
Well I can now say read the book, seen the film, wondered why I bothered. It's only worth watching for the use of day to day items, the hedge trimmer, the cool box, ping pong balls.
If you want to see how its really done stick with Plan 9 From outer Space, far more believable

Ha!  I read the book, which is quite pervy in parts, and saw the video - can't remember a thing about it now, and even remember reading a comment from the director about the miniature chainsaws used in the film (can't remember which mag the interview was in): they needed to be signed out from the manufacturers in the morning and returned in the evening, because they were deemed *so* valuable.  Quite!

Read the Book, Have the LP Soundtrack, have the Movie poster (the banned addition) have the presskit and have the video AND DVD!
I"M GOING STRAIGHT TO HELL!
LOL
Anywayz, I gotta love this 80's B Flick since they really do not make them like this anymore.
I heard that at the time this was going to come out before Alien and that there was a race to see who could deliver their movie first at te box office.
I know there was a remake kind of but it never followed up to the original.
Who knows maybe Horror Planet 2: Twins of Terror will hit the Straight to video market someday!
