Rudy Ray Moore is back as Dolemite!  This time, the heroic entertainer is pitted against a mob-backed nightclub owner, but the real villain is a racist country sheriff who wants to kill Dolemite.

I nearly doubled over laughing at this one too. Really do like those Dolemite movies though. They are hilariously over the top fun, almost like Rudy Ray Moore's on stage comedy act gone crazy.

Ah, I see that both of you finally understood what humor was when you had a moment like Valentine Michael Smith did at the zoo in "Stranger in a Strange Land."  Put me in a cell and make me watch films with Rudy Ray Moore's naked man ass jiggling all day and the pair of you would probably die of asphyxia.

Being a pro wrestling fan, I have grown a surprising tolerance for the male anatomy to the point it really doesn't effect me at all. Im just thankful I only get turned on by the female anatomy. Still reading your reaction to it did make me nearly fall out of my chair in laughter.  TeddyR

I picked up a copy of AVENGING DISCO GODFATHER at the flea market a couple of years ago...reading the review made me want to rewatch it all over again...much to the dismay of my kids..who think I am totally insane and have no taste in "good movies" at all! On the other hand,my wife loved Rudy's suit...which makes him look like some funky superhero!

"SO YA"LL DON'T THINK I JUMPED, HUH? CHECK OUT THIS GOOD s**t!"

As for your first comment in the review I found this on Rudy Ray Moore's Myspace:

A message from Mr. Dolemite

"I would like to send a message to everyone regarding the N word
I can remember when I myself, Rudy Ray Moore used to use that word.
In the days it was quite popular, we used it towards each other all the time.
As time passed though, I felt it to be more and more of an embarrasment.
I stopped using it, I was one of the fore runners, and my act never suffered one bit.
I convinced the late great Richard Pryor to abandon it's use and came behind him and applauded him publicly when he did.
Paul Mooney has recently announced that he will no longer use it either.
I commend him for it and wish to call on everyone else to follow

With Love,
Rudy Ray Moore aka Dolemite"

As for the movie, its my favorite RRM flick, I make everyone watch it, this movie is beyond words. Also how cool is the theme song!

"For things I learned from watching this movie"  a tinfoil bullet-proof vest is very effective

Andrew....Dennis Miller has a radio show, and he is a bad movie fan.
If i ever send him a copy of one of your reviews, this might be...IT!.
Great minds think alike. Hope Dennis can handle it.

I understand Rudy Ray just passed away.
Sad. I met him twice, and he was kinda quiet in his later years, but obviously proud of himself. As he should be.
He certainly never got the kind of appreciation he deserved for such audacious crazy bad movies, and for being the forefather of both Rap, and urban comedy.
I have a feeling his star will rise more as time goes on, and somewhere up there, Red Foxx and he are telling us we ought to
"Put your WEIGHT ON IT!!!!!"

Sadly, the UNCUT version of The Human Tornado is no longer widely available. A good 10-15 minutes was cut from the original and scenes were reordered. Among other things, a whole sequence featuring Dolemite and his boys carjacking and kidnapping a swishy gay man has been completely removed. I feel the uncut version is the definitive version.

This film is somewhat a sequel to the original Dolemite movie, and it very clearly reflects a lighter tone than many of the more serious black films of the era. It almost plays like an extended episode of Dukes of Hazzard, or some other late 70s-early 80s TV show that needed only a laugh track to make its humor and action complete.

Definitely with you on the 'manass' problem, and the exercise equipment over the bed has confounded me since I first saw this as a kid.

Perhaps the best line of the whole film is  "b***h are you for real?"  The same question I would ask anyone who seeks to make 100% logical sense out of this film, or decry its value as a unique combination of Black comedy, film history, and something unique to its era.  It's fun, wild, and crazy enough to keep you laughing through repeated viewings.

RIP Rudy - you were one of the greats!
